Suggested January 2024 2023 Is The Year Of Reckoning For Your Video Streaming Budget

Did you watch the 2023 Grammy Awards? Neither did 24 percent of last year’s Grammy audience. The event’s viewership on Sunday fell to 19.8 million in a massive drop from 26.1 million viewers in 2023.

For years, television has declined while video streaming services have risen. Now it’s time to start looking ahead — and if you have a Netflix or Amazon Prime account, your wallet might not enjoy the next few years.

Television and Theaters Are Finally Dying

The 2023 Golden Globes saw an 11 percent drop in their demographic earlier this month, and this year’s NFL ratings continued their multi-year decline, according to a just-released Moffettnathanson analysis: 2023’s Regular season ratings fell 13 percent, and playoff games were down between 12 percent and 20 percent. That drop in NFL ratings in particular is a bad sign for the television industry, as the league is currently buoying the entire ecosystem. NFL-related content made up “66 of the 100 most popular shows on TV” in 2023, according to Recode’s Peter Kafka.

The other bastion of pre-internet video content is the theater industry, and — like television’s NFL addiction — it has relied on big “event” films like superhero tentpoles and disaster movies to reel in a dwindling audience base. Domestic ticket sales in 2023 were the lowest in over two decades, though overall revenue only dropped $o.3 billion due to a $0.30 rise in ticket prices. For a hint at where audiences are turning for entertainment, look at the modern date night: The classic dinner-and-a-movie has been replaced with Netflix and chill.

Following a record-breaking fourth quarter of 2023, Netflix is ramping up its 2023 content budget to the tune of between $7.5 billion and $8 billion. Amazon Prime Video, a loss leader for the rest of the many-tentacled Amazon service, earns billions a year, and a Disney streaming service is in the works to launch in 2023. Even Hulu, long considered an underdog, finished 2023 with over 17 million subscribers in a Handmaid’s Tale-fueled jump of 5 million from their May 2023 numbers. Meanwhile, the younger demographic is choosing to stay at home increasingly often — 74 percent of UK children spend less time outdoors each day than prison inmates — in a trend that certainly can’t hurt streaming service’s future.

Sure, it’s appealing to imagine video streaming services leaping to safety while the television and theater industries explode behind them, but streaming services still face one major hurdle. And it’s one that everyone who enjoys watching movies and TV online should be wary of.

42 Percent of Consumers Won’t Go Over $20

As streaming services take off, media companies are hoping to start their own. And they’re generating their own hit shows, from HBO Now to CBS All Access, the home of Star Trek Discovery. Just how many services are customers willing to stay subscribed to?

A new report out today from live streaming site Phenix has an answer: Their survey found that 42 percent of U.S. consumers only plan to spend between $1 and $20 per month on streaming subscriptions in 2023. That’s only about two streaming services. Granted, 42 percent isn’t the majority of customers, but it’s definitely a significant chunk of streaming services’ audience, and given the massive scale that these subscription services are banking on to justify their billion-dollar budgets, it’s a percentage that can’t be ignored.

It’s likely that one of two things will have to change in the near future: Either consumers will decide to start shelling out far more than $20 a month for their beloved shows and films, or streaming services will start to look into bundling themselves, a la cable packages.

Content Fatigue and Packaging

There’s some evidence to support the rise of the streaming package: Nearly one in five consumers (18 percent) think “there’s too much content to keep up with,” Phenix reports, while almost one in six (15 percent) wish their content was “all on the same platform.”

Streaming players like Disney, Amazon and Verizon are currently working in the opposite direction: Not only did they produce a record amount of content last year (2023 alone saw 487 scripted shows, the most yet), but they also took steps to move off of certain platforms, as in Disney’s decision to move its Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars content off of Netflix by 2023.

It seems likely that the pendulum will start to swing in the other direction, and the streaming services that can still pull their weight will have to start offering their content as bundles. Indeed, one example already exists in Amazon, which offers content from services like Cinemax and HBO as add-ons to its Prime Video service. But the services won’t give up their individual power until they absolutely have to.

Can Live Streaming Help?

Smaller video streaming services have already thrown in the towel, from comedy VOD service Seeso to GoPro’s 32 TV shows. The larger ones are hoping to boost their  Stefan Birrer, PhD, cofounder and CEO of Phenix, has one idea for how services can beat content fatigue: Better live streaming abilities.

“2023 was a pivotal year for the streaming industry, with platforms, networks and franchises making hefty technology investments and engaging in strategic partnerships,” Birrer tells me. “While it’s great the industry is growing so rapidly, we’re still overlooking the root of the issue: ‘live’ content is still not live. As it stands, as many as 40 percent of Americans don’t plan to live stream at all this year because of rampant latency issues like delays and buffering, so providing anything short of real-time won’t cut it.”

Real-time streaming might make an impact if a service can deliver a version with zero latency, but some have doubts. Audiences enjoy online services, but they may also tend to opt for individual highlight clips or SNL skits the next day rather than live games or shows.

Regardless of live streaming’s power, one fact points to what the future has in store for everyone who loves checking out the latest hit show no matter where it is. In 2023, the average cable TV bill cost $103 a month. As more and more consumers cut the cord and turn to streaming services, that $100 a month serves as a benchmark for how much streaming services might eventually be able to wring up out you — yes, even the 42 percent of you who don’t plan to spend a cent over $20 a month. After all, “plan” is the operative word.

Best Hardware Of 2023: Pcworld Names The Top Products Of The Year

The Best Laptops Best Gaming Laptop: Gigabyte Aero 15X

Adam Patrick Murray

We’ll admit that we were torn on the best gaming laptop of the year, but we finally settled on one that gives you awesome performance without sacrificing battery life. For that category, you’d be hard-pressed to beat Gigabyte’s updated Aero 15X (currently $2,199 on Amazon). It’s slightly bigger and slightly heavier than comparable 15.6-inch laptops, but it belts out GeForce GTX 1070 Max-Q performance while still giving you very reasonable battery life. Sure, there are faster laptops, as well as sexier ones (there’s no option for a high-refresh panel option with G-sync support, for example, nor a GTX 1080), but in the end you get a well-balanced yet fast gaming laptop. —Gordon Mah Ung

Best Ultrabook: Dell XPS 13

Gordon Mah Ung/IDG

Don’t fix what’s broken but go ahead and make it better. That’s the mantra Dell picked for its latest XPS 13 ($1,199.99 as configured via Dell), which ups the ante from a dual-core chip to a quad-core chip using Intel’s 8th-gen Core i7 CPU.

It is externally no different than its predecessor except for being faster. Much faster. Our tests have shown the XPS 13, with an 8th-gen Core i7, can match and sometimes surpass a much larger XPS 15 with a 6th-gen Core i7 in CPU-intensive operations. Amazingly, the XPS 13 does this without sacrificing battery life. In a nutshell, take the ultrabook that pushed the industry forward and make it faster—much faster. —Gordon Mah Ung

Best 2-in-1/tablet: HP Spectre x2 12-c012dx (2023)

The best 2-in-1 or Windows tablet was nearly a tossup between HP’s Spectre x2 (currently $1,299.99 at Best Buy)and the Samsung Galaxy Book. While Samsung’s low price, OLED display, and excellent battery life tugged at my heartstrings, the Spectre x2’s higher-res display, competitive price, and solidly built design ultimately won me over.

Essentially, HP took the best bits from its Elite x2 tablet and the first-generation Spectre x2 tablet (2023), then updated the new Spectre x2 with 7th-generation Kaby Lake chips. With the Spectre x2, you’re getting solid performance in a rugged package: a Surface-like 3,000 x 2,000 display, Iris Plus 640 integrated graphics, 8GB of RAM, and a 360GB SSD. HP even included a pen and keyboard, all for a holiday price of $1,200.

Best budget laptop: Asus ZenBook Flip

Alaina Yee

The ZenBook Flip (available at Amazon) is a fully convertible notebook that can handle everyday tasks with ease. Its pricing and specs are virtually identical to one of our favorite budget ultrabooks, the Asus UX305 (now discontinued). Inside you get a Core m3-6Y30, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD, and outside there’s a 1920×1080 IPS screen with an anti-glare finish.

A couple of compromises do exist: There’s no backlighting on the keyboard, and the trackpad is a tad springy. Still, it’s a good deal in a price range that usually nets you thick, ugly, and plastic. —Melissa Riofrio

The Best Components and Peripherals Best CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X

This makes it the easy winner for those who need more cores but could never afford it before. —Gordon Mah Ung

Best graphics card: EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC2

Brad Chacos/IDG

2023 was a hard year for graphics cards. Nvidia’s GTX 10-series hasn’t been upgraded, and AMD’s long-awaited Vega wound up disappointing overall. Worse, cryptocurrency miners drove the price of mainstream cards through the roof. But despite all that, one GPU stood out from the crowd: Nvidia’s $700 GeForce GTX 1080 Ti.

Our favorite? EVGA’s GTX 1080 Ti SC2 ($770 on Newegg). Most aftermarket GTX 1080 Tis are gigantic. The SC2 sports a standard dual-slot design, yet it still manages to include a sizeable factory overclock and quiet, efficient cooling bolstered by EVGA’s revolutionary iCX cooling technology.

Best whole-home Wi-Fi system for most homes: Netgear Orbi RBK50

Michael Brown

We’ve focused most of our attention on 802.11ac mesh routers and whole-home Wi-Fi systems this year. They’re the best networking solution for most homes, because they eliminate dead spots by blanketing your home with near-uniform connectivity. We’ll add more coverage of the traditional routers that gamers and other enthusiasts might prefer in 2023.

In the meantime, Netgear’s Orbi RBK50 (available on Amazon) remains our top recommendation for most consumers. If your home has ethernet in its walls, however, we recommend the Linksys Velop (available on Amazon) for reasons we’ll explain in a moment.

Michael Brown

One of the reasons the Orbi RBK50 is so fast is that it dedicates one of its two 5GHz radios (the third operates on the 2.4GHz band) to data backhaul. The three-station Linksys Velop can do the same thing, but it will automatically switch to even faster wired ethernet for backhaul if that option is available. Netgear has promised to add this capability to the RBK50 almost since it launched, but we’re still waiting. —Michael Brown

IDG / Hayden Dingman

The HyperX Cloud Alpha (available on Amazon) brings the same combination of durability and comfort that made us fall in love with its predecessor. There are some quality-of-life upgrades, too, like removable cabling and more accessible volume and mute controls.

Best gaming mouse: Logitech Powerplay Wireless Charging System + Logitech G903

IDG / Hayden Dingman

Yes, we’re choosing a wireless gaming mouse as our top pick. What Logitech has accomplished with its Powerplay wireless charging technology is truly revolutionary. It’s a pricey proposition, since you must buy the inductive Powerplay charging mat ($99.99 via Logitech) in addition to one of two compatible mice: Logitech’s G703 or the premium G903 (available on Amazon). But the results are worthy of accolades.

The gist is, your mouse is continuously charged while you use it, without any wires. In our tests, the mouse never dropped below 85 percent full. As for performance, here’s what reviewer Hayden Dingman had to say about the Logitech G903: “The G903 is indistinguishable from any wired mouse I’ve used. There’s about a quarter of a second of dead time when I first move the mouse in the morning, as I go to wake up my computer. That’s the only time I’ve ever noticed that the G903 isn’t wired.”

Powerplay feels like the the tipping point where wireless truly starts to replace wired. —Katherine Stevenson

Best gaming keyboard: Corsair K95 RGB Platinum

IDG / Hayden Dingman

It’s got Cherry RGB switches—Corsair’s still one of the only companies to use the excellent fan-favorites. Its top-tier lighting includes backlit keys, and a multizone RGB strip across the top and underneath the logo. And it features industry-standard media keys—love that volume roller!

Yep, what’s not to love? —Katherine Stevenson

The Best Android Phones Best premium phone: Samsung Galaxy Note 8

Doug Duvall/IDG

As the successor to a phone that was infamous for a global recall due to faulty batteries, Samsung had to deliver something monumental with the Galaxy Note 8 (currently $949.99 from Amazon). And it did.

But what puts the Note 8 over the top of the Pixel 2 and LG V30 is the S Pen. The only premium Android phone to feature a stylus, the Note 8 experience is unlike that of any other Android phone, balancing consumption and creation to deliver a device that really can do it all. —Michael Simon

Best midrange phone : OnePlus 5T

Doug Duvall/IDG

The One Plus 5T brings a 6-inch display to the party without needing to jack up the price too much.

Snapdragon 835? Check. 8GB of RAM? Check. 128GB of storage? Check. 6-inch screen? Check. Dual camera? Check. All-day battery? Check. Headphone jack? Check.

The OnePlus 5T (available from OnePlus) is a mid-cycle refresh like the 3T was last year. Instead of a ho-hum spec bump, it increases the size of the screen from 5.5 inches to 6 inches. A half-inch might not seem like much, but it makes a huge difference. An 18:9 screen puts the OnePlus 5T in true premium territory, and its lightweight OxygenOS is the best Android skin this side of the Pixel 2.

Aa Best Of Streaming 2023 Awards: The Best Tv Shows And Movies Of 2023

Tayo Onabule / Android Authority

2023 was a year like none other in recent history. Thankfully, streaming giants like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus, Hulu, HBO Max, and others kept the content taps on, giving us some of the best TV shows and movies ever. If anything, their content saved us from lockdown boredom and the general sense of doom that prevailed this year.

So earlier this month, we asked Android Authority readers to vote for the best TV shows and movies of 2023 that are available for streaming. We at AA also voted internally and picked our favorites from a long list of well-deserving nominees. The votes are all in! Here are the winners of AA’s first-ever Best of Streaming awards.

The best TV shows and movies of 2023

The best limited series of 2023

Netflix

Team AA and readers: The Queen’s Gambit

Android Authority readers voted The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix as the best limited series of 2023, and we couldn’t agree more. The Netflix drama starring the enigmatic Anya Taylor-Joy made us fall in love with chess. It also gave us a sense of hope and achievement in a year that was nothing but bleak.

The runners up

We at AA voted in HBO’s sci-fi thriller Lovecraft Country as the second-best limited series of 2023. In contrast, our readers picked Netflix’s Emmy-winning drama Unorthodox for the number two spot. A close third was The Haunting Of Bly Manor. You can see all the nominees for the best limited series of 2023 below.

Nominees

AA staffers and readers had different picks for the best streaming documentary of 2023. From a total of 13 nominations, David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet on Netflix got the highest number of votes in our readers’ poll. The documentary film is Attenborough’s witness statement about how the planet changed for the worse during his lifetime. However, it also demonstrates that there’s still hope left to reverse some of the gravest effects of human behavior on nature.

Meanwhile, we at AA voted in Netflix’ Tiger King as the winner for the best documentary of 2023. The series follows the story of Joe Exotic, one of the shadiest and most controversial characters in the world of big cats. The show brilliantly handles its subject and features an unbelievable cast, including drug kingpins, conmen, and cult leaders.

The runners up

Our readers also loved Netflix’s Tiger King, voting it as the second-best streaming documentaries of 2023. Meanwhile, our second favorite here at AA was The Social Dilemma on Netflix. It is a riveting take on how social media reprograms our lives, with some disturbing revelations from Silicon Valley insiders. You can view all the nominees in the category below.

Nominees

Once again, AA staffers and readers agreed that season 2 of The Mandalorian was amongst the best TV shows of 2023 in the sci-fi category. The Disney Plus Star Wars series definitely touched new heights this season, as Mando traversed the outer reaches of the galaxy to return Baby Yoda back to his kind. We won’t spoil it for you, so go give it a watch if you haven’t already seen it.

The runners up

Season 3 of Netflix’s German time-travel thriller Dark was our second favorite sci-fi title of 2023. The third season marks the end of the show and what a brilliant one it was! Our readers, meanwhile, picked season 2 of Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys. The anti-superhero show has definitely ruffled feathers in the streaming world. Its second installment was as entertaining as the first one. You can see the complete list of nominees in the category below.

Nominees

Our readers and team had a slight difference in opinion regarding the best anime series of 2023. We at AA quite liked Netflix’s epic offering based on some of the most popular characters from Greek mythology. Meanwhile, our readers were hooked to the last and final season of one of the longest-running cult anime shows of all time — Attack On Titan.

The runners up

It’s no surprise that even though it didn’t win the round, Attack On Titan was team AA’s second choice. Also unsurprisingly, the second-best anime show for our readers was…you guessed it…Blood Of Zeus. The two titles clearly stood out for both us and our audience, even though we had some pretty good names in our list of nominees. Check them out below.

Nominees

This is the first win for Apple TV Plus in our list of the best TV shows and movies of 2023. Starring Jason Sudeikis as a folksy American football coach struggling to train an English soccer team, Ted Lasso brought some much-needed laughs to this otherwise difficult year. Mindy Kaling’s coming-of-age comedy Never Have I Ever on Netflix was also a riot and a hit with our readers.

The runners up

Although not your typical comedy show, Emily In Paris was chosen as the second-best series in the category by our readers. In-house, we picked season 2 of Netflix’s dark comedy Dead To Me as the runner up. That said, If you’re looking for some more suggestions to lighten up the mood, check out all the nominees below.

Nominees

Our staffers and readers were divided on the best TV movie of 2023. To be honest, they’re both very different and equally entertaining for the genres they tackle. The Trial Of The Chicago 7 boasts of a stellar ensemble cast and represents, through a historical lens, the inequality and unfairness that exists in our society to date. Meanwhile, Extraction was a rip-roaring action thriller full of single-take fight sequences and a hefty dose of Chris Hemsworth.

The runners up

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm was our second favorite TV movie of the year here at Android Authority. Sacha Baron Cohen once again brought the goods as the controversial and comic Kazakh journalist. Our audience agreed with our first pick and voted in Trial Of The Chicago 7 at the number two spot.

Nominees

We can all agree that the second season of The Mandalorian was as good, if not better than the first one. Star Wars fan or not, the story of the lone galactic bounty hunter and Baby Yoda aka Grogu is one that pulls you in right from the get-go. It’s obvious how loved this series is, as both team AA and our readers unanimously voted it as the winner. Jon Favreau, take a bow.

The runners up

With its second win in our Best of Streaming 2023 Awards, The Boys season 2 took the number two position in the category. It was a decision both we and our readers agreed upon. We’ve already spoken about the series above so we won’t go there again. All we’ll say is that if you haven’t seen the show yet, it’s about time you do.

Easy Ways To Update Your Website For The New Year

The beginning of a New Year is a great time to examine and update your website!  Keeping your website updated will ensure your current customers that you stay informed of current trends and important updates.  And, more importantly, improve your website’s Search Engine Optimization, page speed and so much more!  Here are a few easy ways to update your website for the new year.

The very first thing you should do is update your copyright year in your footer.  Sometimes this can be overlooked and forgotten because it’s tucked in your footer and out of sight.  Changing your copyright year to the current year shows visitors that your website is up-to-date and safe.  If your website is displaying an old copyright year, users may feel your site is outdated and not trustworthy.

If you have a WordPress website, you can read How To Change The Copyright Footer On Your WordPress Website, and it will outline the steps to take to change your copyright year.

Update any pricing information that may change for the new year.  This is especially important if you are a service provider and have increased your fees/rates.   Or, if you have a shop and have decided for the new year to increase your prices.

Next, it is important to update any old blog posts that you have on your website.  Updating old blog posts is a great way to up your SEO game and increase your website traffic.

First, work through your high-performing blog posts.  Then revisit the blog posts that had the worst performance later and update those.  You can take a look at your Google Analytics to find out which ones you should visit first. . And, if you have not yet added Google Analytics to your website, you can read How To Add Google Analytics To Your Website to guide you.

Here are items you should check for when updating old blog posts.

Keywords

By adding trendy keywords, your SEO will improve.  There may be more trending keywords that will work for your old blog posts than the ones that you have used.

Check for any old links that may need to be updated.  If they are no longer valid, delete them.

Old Images

Update older images with newer, trendy images.  Make sure your old blog posts include a pin-worthy image (1000×1500) for users to share.  Place this pin image near the top of your blog posts.  If you have blog posts that have not been updated in years, then your pin image may not be the correct size.  This can increase your website traffic tremendously.

Extend The Blog Posts Length

Add more information to extend the length of your blog posts. Maybe years before, your blog posts were not as informative as they should have been.  Edit those and add more information that you may not have included before.

Call-To-Actions

Update any call-to-actions that you may have.  Or, if you do not have CTA’s, then add them!  CTA’s are an excellent way to build your email list.  Or, maybe you recently created a digital product.  Add that to your older blog posts to see more sales!

Lastly, maybe consider updating your website design. Is your current website design functional and up to date?  Is it more than five years old?  Do you feel it’s boring?

It may be time to take a look at your design to see if you need a more current design.  There are a few reasons why a website design refresh may be something you need to consider.

1.   If your brand has changed in the last five years, then make sure your design reflects those changes.

3.   Updating to a new design can also improve your page load and website speed, which is so important for retaining users on your website.  If your design is old and outdated, it could cause serious issues with your website speed.

4.   If your bounce rate is high, users are not sticking around.  This could mean that your navigation is not user-friendly or the content is outdated.  This may mean it’s time for a totally new website design!

The benefits include the ability to do live broadcasts or webcasts, so you need to deliver it from a specialized streaming server.

Video streaming problems may occur due to several factors including Internet speed and the type of media player you’re using.

Why is my streaming not working?

If you’re experiencing video streaming problems in Windows, there are a few checks you need to consider before troubleshooting, including:

If your Internet network connectivity is constantly fluctuating, you may have video streaming problems such as slow and inconstant buffering.

However, if your Internet connection works fine but you still have video streaming issues, you need to check your media player, and change the buffer settings because each player has its own buffer settings.

Some of the most common video file formats used when creating video streams include Windows Media, Quicktime, MPEG-4, Adobe Flash, and RealMedia.

Ensure you check your wireless network card, the version driver you’re using, and the router model and firmware because you may have to upgrade the drivers, the router, and the firmware in some cases.

Why is my Internet fast but streaming slow?

Slow Internet speed on Windows 11 or any other operating system is a common problem, and in most cases, it’s related to your ISP or network hardware.

However, many reported issues with streaming services, and according to users, Twitch keeps buffering even if their connection is fast.

This isn’t the only service affected by this issue, and many reported Disney Plus buffering issues, but luckily, there are ways to fix this problem.

How do I fix video streaming issues on Windows 10?

Before we start making major changes, here are a few quick things to try:

Check for any pending Windows updates and install them. An up-to-date OS is imperative for faster performance.

Disable the antivirus and firewall, both built-in and third-party, temporarily and check whether the streaming issues in Windows 10 are eliminated. If yes, we recommend you switch to a more reliable and effective antivirus solution.

If none work, move the solutions listed next.

1. Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter

If you’re experiencing problems with video streaming, then run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter to resolve the issue.

This checks for commonly occurring issues and ensures any new device or hardware is correctly installed on your computer.

Follow the instructions to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.  The troubleshooter will begin detecting any issues that may be causing video streaming not to work as it should.

Hopefully, the troubleshooter will also optimize Windows 10 for streaming video and you will be able to enjoy your video.

2. Update display drivers 2.1 Start your PC in Safe Mode

In order to update display drivers, you need to start your computer on Safe Mode, then uninstall your current display adapter, and finally check for driver updates.

Safe mode starts up your computer with limited files and drivers, but Windows will still run. To know whether you’re on Safe mode, you’ll see the words at the corners of your screen.

If the video streaming problem isn’t there while in Safe Mode, then your default settings and basic drivers are not contributing to the issue.

2.2 Use the Device Manager

If you have many display adapters, you need to disable the added display adapter by performing the steps above.

If this doesn’t fix the video streaming problems, do the following:

Restart in Safe Mode

Re-enable the added display adapter

Disable the other adapter

Once you’re through and the video streaming issue is sorted, exit safe mode so you can get your computer back to normal mode.

2.3 Exit Safe Mode

Updating drivers manually is very annoying and could cause permanent damage to your PC by downloading and installing the wrong driver versions.

We strongly recommend using a professional driver updater tool to do it automatically.

Outbyte Driver Updater keeps your system running smoothly by upgrading its drivers. This utility analyzes your system for outdated drivers.

3. Disable Adaptive brightness

Does the video streaming issue persist? Try the next solution if this didn’t help.

4. Update graphics card drivers

Expert tip:

4. Choose Search automatically for drivers.

5. If the system finds a new driver, it will install it.

If you don’t want to complicate yourself with this task, there is an excellent tool called Outbyte Driver Updater that updates your drivers automatically.

5. Uninstall and Install graphics card drivers

If your videos are not streaming or playing in Microsoft Edge, follow the steps above to uninstall and reinstall graphics card drivers.

Check if your video streaming function works again, and if not, try the next solution.

6. Install drivers in compatibility mode 7. Perform a clean boot

Performing a clean boot for your computer reduces conflicts related to software that can bring up the root causes of video streaming failure.

These conflicts can be caused by applications and services that start up and run in the background whenever you start Windows normally.

In order to successfully perform a clean boot on Windows 10, you have to be logged on as the administrator.

You will have a clean boot environment after all these steps are carefully followed, after which you can try and check if the video streaming problem is gone.

If you want to know how to add or remove startup apps on Windows 10, check out this simple guide.

8. Run the Video Playback Troubleshooter

The Video Playback troubleshooter tool is built-in on Windows 10 operating system so as to check and resolve any issues you may have.

9. Clear browsing data

We have shown you how to clear the browsing data in Edge, but the process is very similar in other browsers as well. Check if the video streaming issue persists or try the next solution.

10. Reset your browser

If you tried video streaming on a different browser and it worked, then the problem may be due to a corrupt add-on or compatibility issues of the website with Microsoft Edge.

In this case, you can reset the browser, but it is good to note that this feature might reset the security or privacy settings you added to your list of Trusted Sites.

It may also reset any parental control settings, so it is recommended you note the sites before resetting Explorer or Edge, then re-enable add-ons.

11. Change buffer settings in Windows Media Player app

Windows Media Player is no longer the default video-playing app in Windows, but if you’re still using it, this solution will help you fix the Microsoft Edge streaming video problems.

How can I fix streaming problems on Windows 11?

Although Windows 11 has a different design and some new and improved features, it’s not all so different from Windows 10.

That is why all the solutions we outlined above in this guide will also work for the new OS.

Why do streaming videos keep buffering?

Buffering is downloading the video before the player plays it back, whether it’s a separate one or embedded one in the browser.

It does that all the time, but when the player can’t download the video faster than it plays is back, we actually call this effect buffering.

There are many reasons for this problem, but as you have seen from our guide, it usually comes from a bad or unstable Internet connection.

We hope these solutions helped resolve the video streaming issue on your computer.

Union Budget 2023: The Tech Sector’s Wish List

Ahead of the Union Budget 2023 the Indian tech industry shares its wish list from the government

Digitisation and digital transformation have been buzzwords over the last two years. While much has already been done, and India has made tremendous progress in the area, there is still a long way to go before we can call ourselves a truly Digital India. Ahead of the Union Budget 2023 the Indian tech industry shares its wish list from the government, as well as emphasized the need to incentivize digital transformation. “The Union Budget should accelerate the growth of the digital economy by making it easier for businesses to invest in tools and technology that are crucial to their growth. The government can spur innovation in India by creating policies that incentivize technology product exports and encourage startups to make in India for the world.”

BhavinTurakhia, Founder and CEO of Nova (Flock and Titan)

“Following two years of economic uncertainty caused by the pandemic, and amidst the third COVID-19 wave, I am expecting that this year’s Union Budget will be a pragmatic one. There is an urgent need for the Government of India to continue its focus on infrastructure spending to boost the economy and increase employment opportunities. It will be great to see the Union Budget allocate funds toward incentivizing the use of emerging deep technologies like artificial intelligence, intelligent automation, blockchain, augmented / virtual reality, etc., among businesses. Today, businesses across verticals are generating large amounts of data, which when harnessed through the use of new-age technologies can be better leveraged to solve challenges faced by citizens. Promoting digitization is the need of the hour, and while we have made significant progress in this area in the last few years, we still have a long way to go. At this juncture, incentives, tax benefits, and provisions for optimization of cloud services can greatly help in building a truly ‘Digital India’.”

Puneet Gupta, Managing Director & Vice President, NetApp India

“The Union Budget in India is always eagerly awaited by everyone, from corporates to taxpayers, with all hopes attached to having simplified compliances. In the wake of the third Covid wave, there is a certain expectation in terms of rebates and relief from the Finance Ministry on Indirect and Direct taxes. Stimulus packages and tax exemption policies designed for the COVID impacted era would help revitalize the economy. Moreover, the duration of the compensation cess ends in June 2023, hence it would be great if the government could look at providing an extension on this by six months or a year. The Ministry of Finance may have some surprises in their bags for the GST regime specifically from a sectoral perspective, hence as a leading industry player, we are looking forward to this. In order to provide a fillip to business growth, the government is also expected to introduce financial aid to build a strong digital infrastructure for MSMEs and startups. This will help further strengthen organizations, enabling them to grow and thrive in today’s remote work environment.”

Niraj Hutheesing-Founder and Managing Director, Cygnet Infotech.

“India saw a euphoric rise in the number of unicorns in 2023, adding 33 in a year making it one of the fastest-growing technology startup ecosystems globally. This growth has been on the back of overall improvement in ease of doing business, and this should continue to remain an ongoing focus and priority. Within the logistics space, there has been a massive disruption led by a major increase in last-mile deliveries. Additionally, as Make-in-India along with the national freight corridors gains momentum, this is going to further increase demand for logistics. All of this necessitates building infrastructure capabilities that are future-ready. We can achieve this with the right focus on digitizing processes and making international trade easier, which would go a long way in elevating India’s position in the global technology and logistics arena.”

Dhruvil Sanghvi, Founder & CEO, LogiNext.

“When it comes to Electronics System Design and Manufacturing, we as a country have a huge potential in becoming a global hub. The recent semiconductor-focused Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme announced by the government has been a major boost for the ecosystem. The Design Linked Incentives (DLI) which is another element linked to the scheme has been beneficial for the design and fabless companies. From a Union Budget perspective, we are definitely hopeful of an MSME-centric budget from the Finance Ministry which will help in stabilizing growth and further boost this segment, especially during these challenging times caused by the ongoing pandemic. This will also help MSMEs working in the deep tech space to engage in product R&D and manufacturing. Further, in order to encourage the manufacturing of indigenously designed products, the government should also look at relaxing tax burdens, and provide tax exemptions in areas such as customs duty.” “
