Suggested March 2024 5 Reasons Why You Should Buy A Mechanical Keyboard

There you are, sitting on your office chair. Feeling comfortable and good about yourself. Let me tell you something. You are lost. You are a nobody. Why? Because you don’t have a mechanical keyboard in your life! Like some evangelical preacher, I have an idea I need to sell you. That is the glory of the mechanical keyboard. If you accept the mechanical keyboard into your life, you could be experiencing increased comfort, improved productivity, and glory! It will change the way you type forever! Don’t just ask me, there are plenty of fanatics that have forever converted from using cheap, rubber-dome keyboards to high-quality mechanicals. I have made a short list of five reasons why you should switch to a mechanical keyboard. I have faith that you will see the light.

The second reason why you need to switch to a mechanical keyboard is ergonomics. Mechanical keyboards generally have higher quality keycaps which are rounded to let your fingers rest on them more comfortably. Traditional laptop keys, with the exception of Lenovo’s, are flat. Flat keys are good for space-saving designs but you not only lose precision, but also comfort. I find flat keys uncomfortable to type on for long periods because I have to hit them “head on” in order not to make an error. Also, it is very easy to hit these keycaps on the corners which will cause your fingers to slip and mis-type. If you hit the corner of a keycap on a mechanical keyboard, you still have a good chance of registering the input. The longer “throw” of mechanical keyboards are also more comfortable for long typing sessions compared to the short engagement point of chicklet-style keyboards. For a long time, I thought the main attribute of an ergonomic keyboard is shape. After using the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic keyboard for 2-3 years and using my Leopold Tenkeyless for about 5 months, I realize that it’s not about the shape. The main reason mechanical keyboards are better is the key switches.

The third benefit is reduced strain. I realize this is closely related to comfort but I felt that this deserved its own section simply because of RSI(Repetitive Strain Injury). We use our computers for hours and some of us do not take RSI seriously. I take good care of my hands. And so should you. For most people, their hands are their livelihood. Hand health is very important if you are a musician, laborer, or athlete. One thing I’ve notice after spending a few months with my mechanical keyboard compared to keyboards of my past is finger pain. I use to get finger pain after prolonged typing on the rubber dome keys. They were all I knew so I didn’t question. It wasn’t until I was in the market for a better keyboard where I found out about mechanical key switches. Subsequently, it wasn’t until I was typing on them for hours until I realized my finger pain was mainly caused by the cheap rubber-dome keyboards. If you are on the computer for hours, or if your profession involves extensive amounts of typing, consider investing on a mechanical keyboard for this very reason. These key switches will reduce finger strain. Your hands will thank you.

The fourth benefit of using a mechanical keyboard is improved speed. A more precise, comfortable keyboard means improved typing speed. I was never a speed typist. Barely being able to type 25 WPM, after a few months of serious training, I can now type 60-70 WPM. Your mileage may vary but you will improve your speed. If not in burst typing, definitely in endurance typing. That’s typing long essays or reports. Wiki has the average typing speed rated at 33 WPM. If you are over this, you are doing very well.

The last and most important reason why you need a mechanical keyboard? They’re fun! That may sound silly to say but after getting one, I now enjoy typing. I like the sound of these Cherry MX browns. Some people like the blues. You can’t go wrong either way. They’re great to type on. Mechanical keyboards have their own unique personalities. From the simple Leopold Tenkeyless to the highly sought after HHKB Pro 2. Typing shouldn’t be a chore. Most people probably won’t be competing on typeracer for leisure, but mechanical keyboards will make you smile. It’s like buying a luxury car. Sure, you don’t NEED leather heated seat with power everything but if you can afford it, why not treat yourself? Especially a tool that you will spend years using. Once you punch the keys, you will see the light

Top 5 Reasons Why Every Business Should Invest In Seo

In today’s digital age, where consumers are spread as ways to reach them, there are some digital marketing strategies that hold a good hold for all types of businesses — small, medium, and large — in almost all industries.

And that strategy is search engine optimization (SEO). Much has been written about SEO and its merits, but today, I will share the reasons that I believe SEO is not only a good thing to do but should be done for all businesses.

Simply put, SEO is essentially a way to ensure that your business ranks high on the search engine result page for keywords from the relevant industry that you want to target, and thus potential customers and customers.

Is seen by a large group of. The best thing is that all of this can dominate your marketing budgets without you.

Sounds good? I can bet on it.

Here are the top five reasons why every business should invest in SEO Expand your visibility

With the right SEO work combined with regular updates and relevant posts, you can expand your visibility to a much wider base of prospects, giving you a valuable opportunity to attract and convert them.

Exponential increase in website traffic over time

This will be a direct result of better visibility on the right type of keywords. Keywords are a great indicator for search intent, and once your website starts ranking higher in search results, you’re also commanding a much higher credibility than your subsequent results.

Organic search results are the primary source of most website traffic, and over time, you will likely see a dramatic increase in related site traffic, which will continue to rapidly engage with continued SEO.

4 Reasons Why You Should Automate Employee Onboarding In 2023

Employee onboarding is acquainting a new hire with the company’s working and operational culture. But the process isn’t always smooth: A study done by Gallup found that 88% of employees believe their organization does not onboard well.

There are mainly 4 reasons behind companies onboarding poorly:

Inadequate interdepartmental cooperation,

Not briefing the new hire on company culture and policy,

Having a one-size-fits-all onboarding material for all new hires regardless of their new position,

And not training the new hires with the business’ existing applications.

An automated onboarding process can remedy these four shortcomings because it will systematize the way that new hires are integrated into the company. In this article, we will go in-depth into how and why.

1. Automated employee onboarding makes it easy to learn about the company

New hires have to absorb large chunks of information, very quickly, during their orientation. Therefore, it’s normal if they happen to forget some detail here and there.

For instance, they might not remember the amount of paid vacation days the company offers. Or might forget the first name of their department head.

It’s time-consuming, and antiquated, to refer back to knowledge sources such as an email or an employee pamphlet to get one’s answers. Besides, if the knowledge sources are not up-to-date, they might cause misunderstanding and spread false information.

Companies can leverage RPA-enabled conversational AI technology to create a chatbot that can act as an interactive knowledge source between the employee and the company. The benefit is that employees can ask their questions 24/7 and receive instant responses.

2. Automated employee onboarding streamlines interdepartmental cooperation

A new hire needs to understand everything that pertains to them, such as the:

Legal responsibilities they have,

Financial obligations they face,

Performance metrics they should meet, and more.

Moreover, it is claimed that a new hire to complete over 50 activities during their onboarding process, such as signing documents, setting up their desk, learning the company culture, and acknowledging their contractual responsibilities.

The particulars each come from a separate department. This means a thorough onboarding requires a simultaneous interdepartmental cooperation. For instance, if:

The company’s insurance doesn’t cover a specific health package, the HR department should make it clear.

The company has a more strict NDA policy than the industry average, the legal department should make it clear.

The company measures performance success by specific metrics, the management should make that clear.

Or if there are any specific company laws that a new comer might be unfamiliar with, the management should make it clear.

Failure to explain each policy clearly throughout the onboarding process could result in legal, financial, and operational complications both for the employee and the employer.

Onboarding software allows for creation of workflows that will be set off by trigger schedulers. For instance, anytime a new employee is added to Quickbooks, through API and RPA, the software can:

Extract their information,

Schedule onboarding meetings,

And provide them with log-in credentials to company portals.

3. Automated employee onboarding personalizes the onboarding experience

The onboarding process does not have to be bland and generic. The onboarding software can automatically gather the new hire’s information through Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) from the ERP systems to curate a personalized onboarding experience.

For instance, if there’s a PowerPoint presentation, the intelligent RPA bots powered by OCR can read the employee’s name, extract it, and insert it onto the slides to convery a sense of familiarity.

Moreover, the presentation that will be shown to the hire will be specific to the department they will work in. So a new accountant, for instance, will sit through a presentation that is curated for the accounting department. This means manual mistakes, thankfully, get minimized and that there is no waste of resources.

Or if there are any emails that should be sent to get the new staff up-and-running, the content will be personalized (see Figure 1).

4. Automated employee onboarding familiarizes the employee with the business’ applications

An automated training system can be implemented wherein the usage of each application is  recorded through screen recording and shared with the employees, on demand. In addition, the chatbot can also be used in this stage: It can be scripted to copy-paste the most relevant answers to the employee’s technical questions by recognizing certain keywords.

Let’s imagine the new finance hire does not know where to find last month’s invoices. The user would ask the chatbot, “where can I find last month’s invoices?” The software would recognize the words “find” and “invoices,” and would then copy and paste the relevant answer from the database.

The benefit of automating the tutorials or the technical FAQs is that the new hire would receive their answer faster than they would have done if they asked one of the personnel. The other benefit would be that the other employees wouldn’t have to spend time dealing with such issues. Instead, they could be better spending their time elsewhere.

Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Invest In Robotics In 2023

The greatest method to utilize both parties’ distinct strengths is to use robots as partners who work for people in human situations. Robotics in 2023 will be the biggest trend and in this growing market it’s best to invest for higher profits in the future so moving forward we’ll discuss the reason why you should invest in robotics.

1. Lower Operational Expenses

Robotics provides you the ability to cut both direct and overhead expenses, greatly improving your competitiveness. Take energy as an illustration. Robots can lower your energy costs since they don’t require a minimum level of lighting or heating. According to current estimates, there might be an 8% savings for every 1°C decrease in heating levels, and needless lighting can result in savings of up to 20%.

2. Enhance the Consistency and Quality of the Product

A consistently high-quality finish is possible with robots since they don’t experience the consequences of weariness, attention, or repeated and tiresome jobs. They are programmed to obey instructions, and their inherent precision and reproducibility guarantee a high-quality finish for every product created!

3. Boost the Productivity of Workers

Because employees are no longer required to labor in hot or possibly dangerous areas, the introduction of robots can enhance working conditions for personnel. They can also get useful programming skills and engage in more interesting employment.

4. Boost Manufacturing Output Rates

Robots can operate unsupervised day, night, and on the weekends, allowing for higher productivity levels to meet order deadlines. There is no downtime, illness, or focus lapses with a robotic solution. Programming robots to handle new goods offline also increases flexibility while assuring a speedier overall output.

5. Increase Flexibility in Product Manufacturing

The production line can benefit from flexibility thanks to robots. To get the most out of your investment, use robotics equipment for a range of items once the necessary procedures have been put into the robot controller.

6. Lower Material Waste and Boost Output

Robotics significantly improve product quality. The quantity of breakages and waste created as a result of subpar or irregular finishing decreases when more goods are completed at the first try to the standard expected by consumers. Greater yields result from more completed items being produced.

7. Boost Workplace Wellness and Security

Tasks presently performed by manual employees that are unpleasant, difficult, or dangerous to their health can be easily performed by robots. Robotics considerably reduces the risk of mishaps brought by coming into touch with machine tools or other potentially dangerous manufacturing equipment. Additionally, they aid in the eradication of conditions like repetitive strain injuries that are linked to rhythmic or demanding activities (RSI).

8. Reduce Staff Turnover and Hiring Challenges

The greatest levels of expertise and training are needed to achieve the high levels of accuracy that today’s industrial processes demand. Robots provide a perfect substitute for highly trained manual labor, who are getting harder and more costly to hire. Once they have been programmed, there are no expenses involved with hiring new employees or keeping existing ones trained. Additionally, robots provide more flexibility in terms of work schedules and the capacity to manage various production activities.

9. Lower Capital Expenses

Robots can cut down on waste and the cost of consumables. Businesses can forecast the manufacturing rate with confidence and guarantee a quick and effective service by getting items through the production process more quickly.

10. Make High-Value Production Areas More Compact

Should You Buy A Laptop With 8Th

The issues differ from generation to generation. In many cases, we’ve said you can wait a few years before upgrading. The 8th-generation jump was an exception: It represented one of the biggest laptop CPU improvements in a long time, worthy of upgrading even from a 7th-gen chip.

Now that Intel’s latest 9th-gen Core mobile chips are on their way , it’s time to figure out whether it’ll be worth it to pay top dollar for the new chip; buy or keep a laptop with an 8th-gen CPU (plenty of current models remain available), or upgrade from your 6th-gen or 7th-gen model.

Update: We originally wrote this analysis before we had actual hardware in hand. Since then, we’ve put several 9th gen laptops to the test. If you want to see hard evidence of what we forecast here, read our story “Should you buy a laptop with Intel’s 8th-gen or 9th-gen CPU? We run the benchmarks.”

With the 9th gen, however, we’re mostly back to the incremental clock speed upgrades we’ve seen from Intel for years. That’s not to say it’s all underwhelming—because you can get that fancy new 802.11ax/Wi-Fi 6, too. But for those interested in speed boosts, the sparse improvements in core counts mean you can largely ignore this series except for the Core i9 lineup.

The handy chart below breaks down the differences between 9th-gen, 8th-gen,  and 7th-gen chips,. As you can see, core/thread counts haven’t moved as much as clock speeds.

Here are the dirty details of Intel’s last three generation of “H-class” CPUs used in most 15-inch and larger laptops.

9th-gen Core i7 vs. 8th-gen Core i7: Mild uptick

After diving into the specs of Intel’s 9th-gen Core i5 and Core i7, the short answer is: small clock bumps at best.

For example: the 9th-gen Core i7-9850H shares the same base clock (the clock speed the CPU drops to in a worst-case scenario) of 2.6GHz with its ancestor, the Core i7-8850H. But the 9th gen sees a 7-percent increase in Turbo Boost clocks (the best-case scenario for the CPU.)

9th-gen Core i5 vs 8th-gen Core i5: Not much

While Core i7 buyers get a mild uptick, those who buy moderately priced laptops in the Core i5 section get even less.

It’s pretty hard to live up to the huge performance boost the 8th-gen chips gave us over the 7th-gen chips, but at least the 9th-gen Core i9 gives it a good try.

9th-gen Core i9 vs. 8th-gen Core i9: The chip you’ve been waiting for

The good news for those who can afford it is the new 9th-gen Core i9. It should (mostly) offer a serious performance shot in the arm with its 8 cores vs. the 6 cores of the 8th-gen Core i9 chip.

That meant the only difference between a Core i9-8950HK and a Core i9-8850H was clock speed. Even worse for the 8th-gen Core i9, it could only hit those high clock speeds in laptops with decent cooling, like the spacious Alienware 17 R5. When you stuffed the Core i9-8950HK into, say, a 4-pound MacBook Pro 15, disappointment happened.

Here’s how fast the 9th-gen Core i9 will probably be

If you’re worried about those scary base-clock speed decreases in the chart above when comparing an 8-core 9th-gen Core i9-9980HK versus a 6-core 8th-gen Core i9-8950HK, we don’t think it’s going to be a big deal. Based on our experience with Intel’s 8th-gen chips, they rarely hit their base clock speeds. If the laptop maker does its job and the chip is properly cooled and powered, it’ll stay far north of base.

With its higher Turbo Boost clock, the new 9th-gen Core i9 chips will likely also run at higher speeds than the 8th-gen Core i9 under single-threaded and lightly threaded tasks.

At least, that’s our forecast, assuming the laptop maker cools and powers the laptop properly. We can tell you that not all will. An 8-core Core i9 in a 7-pound gaming laptop is going to behave far differently than an 8-core Core i9 in a 3.9-pound laptop.

Gordon Mah Ung

We predict the performance of Intel’s new 9th-gen Core i9-9980HK will be far north of a Core i9-8950HK’s, but lower than that of the the 9th-gen desktop Core i-9900K in the Alienware Area-51m,.

5 Reasons Why You Absolutely Shouldn’T Miss Mobile World Congress This Year

Mobile innovation: Things will get worse before they get better

There have been a few bright sparks in the abyss, of course, but MWC has mostly been mired in the doldrums for years, crippled by the same smartphone fatigue hitting the industry’s giants and stifled by an overall lack of innovation in the mobile space.

Even if you count keynotes technically held away from the Barcelona show (which surely we can all agree still fall under the MWC banner by proxy), what was once the must-see event in the world of mobile has lost a lot of its luster.

Something feels different this year, though.

Looking across the teasers, leaks, and pre-show hype, there’s a growing glimmer of hope that MWC 2023 will be the kind of exhilarating showcase the mobile industry and consumers deserve.

5G is really here this time

If you attended MWC in person in recent years, you’ll remember phrases like “5G is here” or “5G has arrived” misleadingly emblazoned all over placards on telecom giants’ various stands.

Turns out it hadn’t arrived then, but it will this year.

It’ll still be a while before we’re enjoying lightning fast download speeds and buttery-smooth 4K streaming on the go, but the major U.S. carriers have committed to turning on their nascent fifth-generation networks in some capacity in 2023.

What will be 5G’s killer app? Many industry players aren’t sure yet

The first batch of 5G phones, on which those networks will depend, looks set to break cover at MWC 2023.

The most likely candidates at this stage appear to be Samsung, OPPO, HUAWEI, and Xiaomi. OnePlus already confirmed it’ll have a 5G phone prototype on display.

Sure, a 5G phone isn’t as immediately exciting as a device that folds out into a tablet, but 5G could usher in an Internet of Things revolution, and become the lynchpin of smart cities. It could act as a gateway to VR, AR, and XR experiences on mobile that change the way we play, shop, and generally engage with our handsets. That all sounds pretty exciting to me.

Xiaomi (re)takes the stage

Now it wants to carry that momentum forward at MWC 2023 by returning to the Gran Fira Via in earnest after two years away. While Xiaomi technically showed up last year, you have to go back to 2024 to the muted reveal of the Mi 5 series for its last major product announcement.

A proper Nokia flagship

HMD Global has done an incredible job reviving the Nokia brand since it debuted at MWC 2023. The once great name of Nokia — bolstered by Google’s Android One software — now finally means something again after the pitch-black darkness of the Microsoft/Lumia era.

We’ve seen HMD craft competitive, affordable phones for almost every price bracket that have mostly earned rave reviews and helped the brand gradually claw back a modest chunk of market share in various regions. Well, almost every price bracket, at least.

That looks almost certain to change at MWC 2023 with the arrival of the Nokia 9.

The long-rumored and heavily-leaked phone could feature all the trimmings you’d expect from a truly high-end phone with a premium design — OLED display, flagship internals, and a crazy penta-lens camera and accompanying sensors that look like a trypophobe’s nightmare (don’t Google that).

It’s slightly disappointing to hear the phone may well be powered by the Snapdragon 845 when Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset is ready for primetime, but if HMD can once again keep the price down the Nokia 9 could be the phone Nokia fans have been waiting for.
