Suggested March 2024 Best Single Player First Person Shooter (Fps) Games To Play In 2023

First Person Shooters (FPS) are one of the biggest segments of the gaming market, but many of them are almost solely focused on competitive play rather than a complete experience these days. Here we go over the best single player FPS games for you to play in 2023. Some of these games may include multiplayer modes, but unless there’s an extremely well-fleshed out single-player campaign, the game is not worthy of this list.

Platform(s): PC

Subgenres: Arena Shooter, Movement Shooter, Stylish Action

ULTRAKILL is my personal favorite single-player FPS on the market right now. It has easy and intuitive movement mechanics, nostalgic PS1-style graphics, a superb soundtrack, and a bunch of fun gameplay elements lifted straight from games like Devil May Cry. At the time of writing, the game is technically in early access, but about a third is complete and available to play.

2. Metro Exodus

Metro Exodus is another superb single player FPS game. Unlike other games on this list, Exodus has many very slow-paced segments, and isn’t afraid to take power completely out of the hands of the player. Metro Exodus boasts truly gorgeous graphics, especially with ray-tracing enabled on the Enhanced Edition (included by default with next-gen and PC purchases). If you want a game to really push the graphical limits of your PC and get really immersed into, Metro Exodus is a great choice.

3. Doom Eternal

Doom Eternal is the sequel to the 2024 DOOM Reboot and basically takes everything that game did and turns it up to 11. It’s a much more difficult experience but a more rewarding one once the player masters weapon switching and quick weak point targeting. There are many great set pieces and plenty of visual variety due to the galaxy-spanning narrative.

Eternal has received consistent post-launch support through the addition of Master Levels (harder remixes of existing levels), two 3-level DLC packs (The Ancient Gods), and various smaller content updates. Just recently, it even got ray-tracing and DLSS! The sheer scale and intensity of Doom Eternal is unmatched by anything else on this list. If you want a high octane single player FPS, we can’t recommend Eternal enough.

4. Black Mesa

Platform(s): PC

Subgenres: Survival Horror, Exploration/Puzzle

Black Mesa is essentially a full-blown remake of Half-Life 1, and is considered by many to be an upgrade over the original in nearly every way. The graphics are certainly better in every way and many improvements have been made to parts of the game that people previously didn’t like, especially late in the game. The reviews on this game are pretty much universally positive, and Valve liked it so much they gave the team permission to sell a remake of their game for profit.

5. Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2 is a Movement Shooter before anything else, with its focus on grappling hooks, wall-running, air-strafing, bunny-hopping, and more. There’s a lot of depth to the movement in this game, and that’s before you even start getting into the deeper gunplay and Titan (giant robot you can pilot) mechanics. The single-player campaign has a lot of huge maps to practice your movement in and surprisingly endearing characters to match. It’s no Citizen Kane, but it’s great fun.

6. Amid Evil

Platform(s): PC, Switch release TBA

Subgenres: Arena Shooter, Movement Shooter, Fantasy Game

Amid Evil is a high fantasy spin on the classic Unreal/Quake formula. That’s basically the gist of it. You get bunnyhopping, speedy base movement, many projectile weapons, and pickups. It has really well-designed arena shooter stuff with great music and a unique retro aesthetic. You can also enable ray-tracing and DLSS to take that retro aesthetic and turn it into something undeniably modern.

7. Dusk

Platform(s): PC, Switch release 2023

Subgenres: Arena Shooter, Movement Shooter, Horror

Dusk is also a spin on classic arena shooters but leans much closer to Doom than to Quake or Unreal. The player is rarely ever not in power, but the game isn’t afraid to challenge you, and the atmosphere actually can be quite creepy and oppressive at times. Like with over arena shooters, there’s a strong focus on movement here as well, with a high skill ceiling for improvement.

If you’re itching for more retro-styled shooters and like horror aesthetics, Dusk will definitely be a good fit for you.

8. Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Last but certainly not least on this list is Halo: The Master Chief Collection. This is a collection of six Halo games, starting from the original and ending at Halo 4. All of the games have an optional mode where you can see remastered graphics, and the MCC supports cross-platform play between Xbox and PC.

Halo is renowned for its sci-fi story and setting, and the gameplay is actually quite fun, too, especially if you’re a PC player who’s been missing out on the series. It may be at the bottom of this list, but that’s really because Halo needs the least introduction of any of our entries. If you want to get into Halo, there’s never been an opportunity better than the Master Chief Collection.

Parting Words

Ultrakill and Doom Eternal are our top picks of the best single player FPS games for those looking for a high-octane FPS experience. If you want something more focused on setting a mood and immersing the player, Metro Exodus and Black Mesa are our primary recommendations.

Comment below and let us know: are you playing any of these or think something else deserves a spot on the list more?

Best Two Player Games For Android

Every now and then all of us like to take a quick break from our stressful lives. What’s better than picking up your smartphone and playing a couple of fun games with your friends to de-stress your mind and make you forget about your worries for a short while.

If you’ve been on the Playstore searching for games, you’d know that there are literally thousands upon thousands of games to choose from.

To save you the trouble and the additional effort of searching for a decent game to play with your buds, we’ve done the arduous work of picking and choosing from several hundred games and have come up with a list of the best two player games for Android.

Related: Best free games with no in-app purchases

Here are our top picks for the best two player games on Android.

Fun fact: There are approximately 677,560 games available on the Google Playstore, so now let’s take a look at the best out of the bunch for two players.

1. DUAL!

Dual! is possibly one of the best two player games out there. The gameplay is simple and straightforward. You and your gaming buddy need to download and install the game on your Android devices. Once installed the game allows users to either connect by Bluetooth or WiFi, however, the Bluetooth feature is still in beta and may not work for you.

We’d recommend you connect to the same WiFi network or set-up a hotspot. Load the game up on both devices and enjoy shooting projectiles from one device to another. The game graphics are also great and generally, the game feels fluid and bug-free.

If you’ve got a couple of minutes to spare, what are you waiting for? Grab your gaming bud and get glued to the game either battling each other or working together to defeat the enemies.

2. Table Tennis Touch

Table Tennis Touch offers the best Ping Pong experience on smartphones hands-down. If you’ve ever played Table Tennis, you’d know how enjoyable the game actually is and now you get the opportunity to play the game on your smartphone as well.

The game offers several different modes such as Career, Mini-game fun, and Multiplayer mode too. This means you’d not get easily irked while playing the game as there are several different ways to play. While on the multiplayer mode you have the ability to play against your friends at any time. This game definitely deserves to be downloaded if you’re a Table Tennis fan.

3. Funny Soccer

Funny Soccer unapologetically has old school 8-bit style graphics which is what makes the game even more fun to play with. Funny Soccer is probably one of the most simple games out there.

You don’t even need two devices to play the two player game as all you need is to load the game on your device and call your friend over to have a soccer match like no other. Simply tapping your side of the team button will make the character jump about and kick the ball to the other side to score a goal as your 2nd player tries to do the same.

While this may seem odd right now until you try the game you’d never really know how addictive this game actually is. The game isn’t meant to give your brain a workout, it’s actually meant to be a fun and quick to play game.

4. Ultimate Tennis

Here’s a game based on an outdoor sport. We know nowadays it’s hard to find time to go out into the real world and play a sport, everyone’s busy and could barely find 30 minutes to spare which of course isn’t enough to go out and play a sport like Lawn Tennis.

Ultimate Tennis has great graphics and the game also is built with good physics in mind. The gameplay is almost as close as you’d get to play Tennis in real life. In the game, you can dash, smash and dive just like in real life and go head to head with your friends as well with the games multiplayer mode.

Ultimate Tennis also allows you to tweak and customize your player’s equipment and skills to the smallest detail.

5. Glow Hockey 2

Admit it, Air Hockey is one of the best past-time games ever. We’ve all had a swing at the game once in our life at least and if you’ve never had the chance to play Air Hockey, now’s the time to experience the game on your smartphone.

Glow Hockey 2 offers a cool and simple way to play. Just like the Funny Soccer title we’ve mentioned above Glow Hockey 2 also offers a two player mode on the same device. While you use one portion of the screen, get your friend to stand over at the other end of the device and have a go at the game. The one who manages to land the puck in the goal the most times wins.

It’s a quick and fun game for those times when you’d like to be competitive. The best part is that no internet connect is required to play the game.

6. Fling Fighters

Fling Fighters is easily one of the most fun games to play with your mates. As the name suggests you can dual your friends by flinging items at them to cause damage while also trying to jump around trying to dodge incoming attacks and traps from your foe.

The game offers an online multiplayer mode as well as a local multiplayer mode to challenge your friends offline. Fling Fighters offers 40 different characters to choose from, therefore, you’d have the ability to try out new characters and abilities while you battle it out with your friends.

7. Ludo King

So, here’s a game that we’ve probably all played in our childhood. Ludo is one of the best board games available and could be played by kids and adults alike.

While the game offers everything you’d expect from a Ludo board game, there are several cool features added too such as animated emoji’s to show your frustration, love, or other emotions to your opponent while playing against them.

8. Badminton League

Here’s another outdoor sport based game for you and your friend to try out. Badminton is fun to play and we know there’s a possibility you’ve at least played it once.

Badminton League offers a great 1 vs 1 online mode or you could create your own tournament along with your friends. The graphics and physics of the game are great while offering a dynamic gameplay. The controls are a bit gimmicky but once you get the hang of it you’d be ready to smash the shuttlecock left right and centre within no time.

If you’ve visited an arcade gaming centre in your life, you’ve definitely played MORTAL KOMBAT at least once. What’s even more exciting is that MORTAL KOMBAT is now available to play on your Android smartphone too. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration if we said a whole generation of gamers has probably played MORTAL KOMBAT more than once.

MORTAL KOMBAT X also brings forward a 1v1 battle mode for going head to head with your friends.

10. Real Boxing

Real Boxing offers the best boxing experience on your smartphone. The graphics are also excellent and definitely one of the higher-end graphics games on the list.

The game has to basic modes career mode or multiplayer mode. The multiplayer mode allows you to go up against other players around the world or let you settle it with your friend on who’s the better boxer without having to get yourselves all black and blue.

Real Boxing also has an arcade-style mode where the controls and camera angle are much like what you’d find on an arcade gaming machine.

11. Basketball Stars

If you love sport based games, Basketball Stars has got to be a game you try out. It offers a 1v1 multiplayer mode for you to dribble, shoot, score, and win against other players around the world.

Basketball Stars also lets you change the style of your character by selecting different outfits and items. The gameplay is simple, score more points than your opponent to win the game. The game offers decent graphics which makes it even more enjoyable to play.

12. Pocket Tanks

Pocket Tanks is easily the most interesting and fun to play strategic based games in our opinion. The game was exclusively a PC based game a couple of years ago and finally, we’ve got the chance to play the game on our Android devices. Pocket Tanks has offline as well as online gameplay modes to let you battle your friends.

The gameplay is simple, you need to destroy the enemy tank before they destroy you. There are several different weapons to choose from, all of which deal variable damage. So go ahead, melt your opponent with napalm, shoot them with the jackhammer or destroy them with the heatseeker missile.

13. Warlings: Armageddon

Much like the previous game on the list, Warlings: Armageddon also offers a PvP battle experience based on strategy. You can dual with your friends or other players across the globe.

You can connect via Bluetooth to play the game with your friends too. There are 29 different weapons to choose from including a scorching flamethrower.  The game has 10 totally destructible maps to choose from to battle your opponents on.

14. Beach Buggy Racing

A few years back Beach Buggy Racing was one of the best games you could find on the Google Play Store (APK). It still is a fun game to play with your friends, if you’ve got a knack for playing racing games. The game offers a multiplayer mode, too.

The graphics are decent and the game offers many customizations for the vehicles. There are several different characters also to unlock and choose from which all offer a different ability to perform while in game. You can make your opponents dance and swerve off the track by using the disco ball or shoot your enemy ahead of you with a barrage of carrots.

These special moves are character dependent and therefore, you need to choose your character wisely. Beach Buggy Racing also has a “split-screen multiplayer mode to race shoulder-to-shoulder with up to 4 friends on Android TV, or a TV-connected phone or tablet.”

What’s so great about board games these days?

For a while it seemed as if people had forgotten about the joy that a board game can bring. Nowadays, you won’t just find board games at a toy store; in fact, it’s common to find board game-themed cafes and bars! Suffice it to say, there are lots of cool games to play that kids and adults can enjoy together.

In an age where it’s so common to have family members retreat to their own corner of the house and do their own thing on their own screen, it’s very important to remember to bring everyone back together now and again. The best family board games can do just that!

Sure, there are plenty of classics: a session of Settlers of Catan or a Monopoly game that lasts for hours, a Pandemic board game that hits just a little too close to home these days, a Jenga game that gets way too competitive way too quickly—even backyard games like cornhole if the weather is nice outside. But there are also plenty of new fun family games and family card games that will get you excited to play together: Ticket to Ride, One Night Ultimate Werewolf, and Codenames, just to name a few! Check out some new games below. They just might be a perfect fit for your next family game night!

How to make sure a game is suitable for your family’s maturity and age level

When choosing family board games these days, you want to make sure it’s appropriate for your particular family. With so many fun family games to choose from, you don’t accidentally want to start the night off with something too simple for your college-aged kids, or too raunchy for those youngsters!

Always be sure to check the recommended age range on the box set, especially when you are perusing the *adult* versions! Check out the below recommendations on the best family board games for those with young children, adolescents, and more mature family members.

Best for families with young children: Ravensburger Pusheen Purrfect Pick

Pusheen fans will go crazy with this adorable two-sided board game: choose to play at the park, and then flip the board over to play at Pusheen’s house for the next game! 2 to 5 players will start out by laying the “Essential” cards over the board, and then work to collect ten stars by moving the cute Pusheen figure around the board and doing other tasks as instructed by the “Action” cards. With just the right amount of strategy and plenty of sweet pictures, this board game will be a win-win for families with younger children.

Best to play with adolescents: Ravensburger Disney Villainous

In this family game, you’ll get game sculpture pieces, villain realms, illustrated cards, reference guides, villain guides, and more to set you up for a highly strategic game night. There’s even a Youtube tutorial with tips and tricks to master the game! Be sure to check out another Disney Villainous board game in the line, and mix and match characters for an even more complex competition.

Best for families with grown children: Exploding Kittens

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to learn this one. A very simple game in nature, the Exploding Kittens card game is basically a ridiculous, modern version of Russian roulette—if you draw a card with an exploding kitten, and you lose. That said, there’s just enough strategy (and luck) involved to foster some healthy competition, and the cartoons will ensure the family shares enough laughs to play deep into the night. Plus, this fun family game also offers various expansion kits to make sure you won’t ever tire of the exploding kittens.

Careful! Make sure to choose a family game that won’t leave anyone out

How frustrating is it when you finally gather round all of the familial troops for game night, only to realize that the game is designed for more people than you have available? Or you realize when the extended family is in town that you have forgotten to buy the expansion pack that makes it inclusive for an extra 3 players?

Not to fear, as we’ve done the work for you to make sure you find the best family board games that are most appropriate for a certain number of players. Check out the picks below!

Best family game for 2 to 4 players: Pandemic  Best family game for 3 to 6 players: Betrayal at House on the Hill

This family board game is ideal for those who are itching for a good scare. Designed for 3 to 6 players (and with expansion pack options), Betrayal at the House on the Hill features character cards, plastic figurines, special tokens, and 50 different scary scenarios and dangerous rooms that will leave you…terrified. This game has won various awards and will surely have you and your family returning to the unique haunted mansion time and again.

Best family game for 6+ players: Codenames

Reminiscent of the classic “Guess Who?”, this more mature card game is best for those aged 14 and up. Codenames will have you questioning the true identities of your siblings, friends, and parents, and will surely lead to some mysterious revelations. Inclusive of 16 agent cards, 1 double agent card, 1 assassin card, and 400 codenames, this fun card game is great to play at the dinner table—no mess involved!

Looking for a board game that won’t cost an arm and a leg?

Depending on the type of family board game you are looking for, how many expansion packs you may want to buy, and its current popularity level, board game prices can start adding up. However, there are still many that you can find in the 10 to 15 dollar range.

Check out this classic game that will be a hit for all ages and all numbers of players, coming in at just under 10 dollars.

Best budget: UNO Family Card Game

This classic card game has regained popularity in the past few months for good reason. Game-changing cards like Reverse, Draw Two, Draw Four, and Wild Card, will have your confidence heightened (or the opposite) in just a moment’s notice. This version of the classic game comes in a sustainable tin can that’s great for both travel and storage.

FAQs Q: What are some fun family games?

The most fun family games are the ones that bring out some healthy competition and result in fond memories with you and your loved ones. That said, the most fun family games will differ for each family: do you prefer scary games or strategy games? Sophisticated games or cute character-based games? The list above hopefully will answer this question by providing games that cover the gamut of these topics.

Q: What is the best family game for 2023?

While the answer to this question may be subjective, one of the most popular family games for 2023 is Codenames.

Q: What are the top 5 board games of all time?

The top 5 board games of all time are also quite subjective but tend to feature the classics we all know and (probably) love. These include Chess, Monopoly, Scrabble, Battleship, and Clue.

The best family board games bring us together

The past year or so has been tough for many. But one major positive that has come out of these unique times is the increased quality time that has resulted in more bonding and interaction among many family members. To capitalize on this, or to ensure that the family will want to keep coming back for more in the years to come, why not invest in the best family board games and start some new game night traditions?

Family board games are a perfect way to create authentic connections and genuine laughs while focusing on one play at a time. Forget the TV, lose the iPad, and sit down with your loved ones to take on one of the best family board games like the ones mentioned above.

10 Best Airplane Games You Can Play Right Now

There are a plethora of options to choose from in the Airplane games. From the exciting flight simulation games to adrenaline-rushing aircraft combat games, there may be thousands of games to choose from.

From the various options, I have hand-picked the best airplane games to untangle your conundrum of what to choose and narrowed down the best option to choose from.

Best Airplane Games

Finding the best airplane games that suit our tastes is tough. Some games are just flat, monotonous, and boring, and some games offer exciting combat sequences discounting the flight simulation aspect. So, in this article, I have considered all the essentials that make a good Airplane game.

Microsoft Flight Simulator (2024)

Developer: Asobo Studio

Publisher: Xbox Game Studios

Release Date: August 2023

Platform: Microsoft Windows, OpenXR, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Cloud Gaming

Microsoft Flight Simulator is one of the best and close-to-real life plane simulators. After a fourteen absence, this is the newest rendition of the Microsoft Flight Simulator. And, this is so worth the wait.

I was in complete awe when I first played this amazing game. The true-to-life graphics, the amazing details inside the place, the amazing flying mechanics, and the freedom to fly across the world instantly won me over. And the freedom and the utter excitement to fly across the cities I know, the mountain I want to climb, the countries I want to travel to was so surreal.

Furthermore, the collaboration between this simulation and Microsoft’s Bing map offers us so much freedom and an opportunity to fly around almost every corner of the world. Moreover, the piloting experience is so smooth and real that I sometimes felt I could fly a real one, but that is not true.

As a regular civilian, this may be one of the best experiences in the gaming world. You can explore the world and see beneath the clouds of this simulation which is so realistic and surreal. I highly suggest this amazing game to all the people I know, including all of you.

Star Wars: Squadrons

Every Starwars fan must have dreamt about flying those futuristic and the world Starwars ships and planes. Now, it’s a dream come true as the Star wars: Squadron offers one of the most exciting and thrilling rides through the chaos and vastness of the space.

This game combined the best of two games to deliver one of the best games in the world of Stars war. The classic battle aspect of Rogue Squadron and the flight simulation aspect of Elite: Dangerous. You are tasked to control starfighters and go into the battle against the opponent’s starships.

This game has one of the most visually stunning graphics, a marvelous depiction of the Star Wars, the most astounding battle sequences, and a brilliant story that picks right after Return of the Jedi. This game tastes your patience initially, but after you learn to maneuver the ship and use basic essentials while engaging in the battle, it smooths sailing.

This game also offers a Multiplayer option along with the single-player campaign. So, you can also fly across the sky and fight against human players rather than AI players. I highly recommend this game because of this Star Wars heritage and staggering gameplay.

FreeSpace 2

Developer: Volition

Publisher: Interplay Entertainment

Release Date: September 1999

Platform: Microsoft Windows

Freespace 2 is the earliest space simulation game I have ever played. Writing about this gives so much nostalgia and the memories of childhood days come by.

From the developers, Volition comes a squeal to Descent: FreeSpace, where you are supposed to fight against the bizarre aliens. This game is full of outer world shenanigans and amazing graphics that still hold up until now.

Additionally, the plot of this game is so interesting and full of twists and turns. The story moves in motion through the narration and mission briefing, and the story moves forward when you complete the correct mission.

In the first rendition of this game, there was a massive conflict between Terrans and Vasudans, but their War comes to rest when a third intruder comes into the picture. Shivans, the new breed, starts to attack them. Henceforth, the two grave enemies solve their issues and fight against the new breed.

The flying mechanics in this game is very good despite being an old game. This game has one of the best combat sequences this genre of the game could offer. And, I can assure you, you will have the best time playing this game.

Digital Combat Simulator

Developer: Eagle Dynamics

Publisher: The Fighter Collection

Release Date: October 2008

This is a free-to-play simulation game developed by Eagle Dynamics. Initially, the game offers you two maps and two airplanes, but with the downloadable content, you can increase the horizon of this game.

This game will keep you hooked with the best graphics and amazing airplane mechanics. With the various version of aircraft and varieties of maps that are true to real life, this game will offer you a very good time. The children who inspire to be a pilot can also play this amazing game as this game is balanced with the education and entertainment aspects.

Digital Combat Simulator provides the real data with the almost accurate plane intricate interior design, which offers an amazing experience to the players. Furthermore, you can choose aircraft from various eras. You can choose the plane for World War 2 or the Cold War era and fly them across various places on the map.

I recommend this for both educational and entertainment purposes. This game has all the educational content to offer, so if you aspire to be a pilot, you must try this amazing game.

Fighter Ace III

Developer: VR1

Publisher: VR1

Release Date: February 2002

Platform: Microsoft Windows

Fighter Ace III is one of the most exciting games I have come across in this genre. With some exciting graphics and amazing games, this game keeps you hooked.

This game has so much history, ironically and metaphorically, as the game lets us see the aircraft that hold precious in the history of War. During World War II, you will get right into combat, and you need to become a victorious hero. Furthermore, this game offers around ninety airplanes to choose from worldwide.

As this is an online game, this game sometimes feels tough and unforgiving as there may be a far better player than you. So, you need to be a bit patient at the start, and then you can rank easily in this amazing game.

This game is worth the try. This game is fun and offers you an amazing time.

The Crew 2

Developer: Ivory Tower

Publisher: Ubisoft

Release Date: June 2023

Platform: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia

A dashing rendition of the crew offers one of the best on-air airplane flying gaming experiences. The Crew 2 is an open-world racer game in the continental United States where you can enjoy any vehicle from air to water. You can race across the United States, or you can fly, or you can go through the rivers or sea. It sounds interesting, isn’t it?

In this open world, you can move anywhere, look at the monuments, see the stunning night sky, and fly across mountains. The real world’s phenomenal graphics are so gorgeous that they may compel you to pause the game and take a screenshot.

The aircraft flying in this game is well done. The control mechanics, the aircraft’s design, and handling very smooth in the game. And you can do weird stuff here and be very flexible in this game. You can attempt various stunts in the year and go berserk with your gameplay.

This is one of the chill games you can pick up anytime. The mission is fun but exploring the cities and doing weird and ambitious stunts is much more fun in this game.

Project Wingman

Developer: Sector D2

Publisher: Humble Games

Release Date: December 2023

Platform: Microsoft Windows, Xbox One

Set in the alternative world cursed by worldwide volcanic cataclysm, you play as a Monarch who is a part of the team of excellent pilots named Hitman. With a lot of mystery and an action-packed plot, this game excels in the aircraft battling genre.

The dystopian and futuristic deception of the world is so beautiful and amazing and one of the essential parts of an airplane combat game. And the attention to detail about any mechanic and gaming experience serves this game very well.

Furthermore, there are two game modes, i.e., Campaign and Conquest. Both modes are good, but I prefer the Campaign mode because of the depth of the stories it provides. It’s fun to kill enemies when you know the motive behind all the killings.

Best Free Games On Ea Access In 2023

The service is available in the form of EA Access on Xbox One and Origin Access on PC, but PS4 users are out of luck. According to Sony, EA’s subscription service doesn’t offer the kind of value PlayStation fans have come to expect – especially with such a large PlayStation Now library already available to gamers on the platform.

With a large collection of free games available from EA, which should you focus on? Here’s where we list the best free games currently available on EA Access.

If you’re not an EA Access subscriber, you might be interested in our roundup of great free games or the best Xbox One games.

Battlefield 1

Battlefield 1 was hugely popular when it was released at the end of 2024, providing huge-scale multiplayer FPS action and fully destructible environments. The World War 1 setting provides a unique backdrop, and the anthology-style campaign is both incredibly enjoyable and opens your eyes to the futility of war.

It’s a spectacular game with a technically impressive multiplayer – what more could you want from a free game?

Find out more in our Battlefield 1 review.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst

2024’s Mirror’s Edge Catalyst was the second in the Mirror’s Edge series, and saw the return of the free-running mechanics loved by many in the first game. You spend your time in the shoes of Faith running, leaping and (of course) fighting in the city of Glass, zipping up walls and making death-defying leaps from rooftop to rooftop to avoid enemy pursuers.

It’s an open world game too, meaning you’re free to explore the entire city at your own pace, slowly upgrading your gadgets and honing the art of free-running and martial arts.

Star Wars Battlefront (and DLC)

There were complaints about the first Star Wars Battlefront game – namely the omission of a single-player campaign – but most agreed that the multiplayer looked gorgeous and provided hours of fun. Unlike the newer Battlefront with a convoluted upgrade system, the first Battlefront provides an easier online experience for casual fans.

Why? Unlike with BF2, Battlefront gamers can randomly come across Heroes during games, allowing lower-skilled players the opportunity to play as their favourite Star Wars heroes without needing a score of 8-10,000 first. Regardless of skill, it’s a visually stunning game with an active community, and you get access to all DLC for free too!

Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2 aimed to take the vast feedback collected by Titanfall gamers and provide a fast-paced mech-focused first person shooter – and despite relatively low sales, we think the game delivers. While many overlooked Titanfall 2, we’re not quite sure why. The fast-paced multiplayer combat is high-risk, high-reward and the updated combat mechanics provide you with a deadlier Pilot than ever before. And who doesn’t like fighting giant robots?

If multiplayer isn’t your thing, there’s also a single-player campaign full of twists and turns.

Need for Speed Rivals

If you’re in the mood for a bit of racing, Need for Speed Rivals may *ahem* be up your street. The premise of the game is simple – you drive around an open world taking part in races you come across (both single- and multiplayer) whilst avoiding your number one enemy – the police. The game includes high-intensity police chases that get progressively tougher as you go on, along with a plethora of cars and upgrades to choose from.

Battlefield 4

Admittedly, Battlefield 4 is getting a little long in the tooth now, but it still holds a place in many FPS gamers hearts. It was arguably one of the greatest shooters around when it was first introduced back in 2013, and five years later, DICE still keep a small number of BF4 servers running.

While Battlefield 1 provides a great overall gaming experience, the sheer collection of artillery and weaponry available in Battlefield 4 makes it too tempting to miss for some.

Windows 11 has the unique ability to run Android apps on a computer alongside other Windows apps. The new feature was shown off when the operating system was first announced and the ability to run mobile apps made many people excited, especially gamers.

This feature has been in the works for a long time and we probably won’t see an official release until 2023. Fortunately, eager people now have the chance to try out a beta version of the Android feature.

What is the Android feature?

This beta version is known as Windows Subsystem for Android with Amazon Appstore, and as the name suggests, it allows you to install apps from the Amazon Appstore only.

Currently, there are only 50 Android apps available from teaching apps to games like Lords Mobile and Color by Numbers.

If you want to try out the Android app feature, you will have to become a member of Windows Insider and install the latest version of the Windows 11 beta.

You also have to be living within the United States because this beta is locked to the US. If you’re outside, you are unfortunately out of luck and will have to wait until Microsoft releases this feature officially.

You will need an American Amazon account in order to gain access to the Amazon Appstore and make sure your computer meets certain requirements.

On top of being able to run Windows 11, your computer needs:

8GB of RAM

Version 22110.1402.6.0 or higher of the Microsoft Store app

Build chúng tôi or higher of Windows 11

Have a solid-state drive (SSD) storage

Without these requirements, the beta will not work.

That said, this guide will show you step-by-step instructions on how to check if your computer meets the requirements, how to become a member of the Windows Insider Program, and how to install some games.

How can I install Android games and apps on a Windows 11 PC? 1. Check System Requirements 2. Join the Windows Insider Program 3. Download the latest version of the Microsoft Store 4. Install Windows Subsystem for Android

After this, you are finally ready to install Android games on your Windows 11 computer.

5. Install Android Games on Windows 11

Windows 11 supports Android games for users who join the Windows Insider Program and install the Amazon Appstore. If you have already done these two things, all that is left to do is open the app to start downloading and installing your desired games.

Expert tip:

2. In the top search bar, search for the Amazon Appstore. The full name is Windows Subsystem for Android with Amazon Appstore.

4. Sign in with your United States-based Amazon account.

8. A small window of the game will appear which can be resized. You can also use the mouth and keyboard to play the game.

Once you’ve completed the steps, you can open the app from the Amazon Appstore or find it on the Start menu.

6. Buy an Android Game What can I do if I don’t have the system requirements?

If your computer doesn’t meet the system requirements, you can upgrade your hardware by installing an SSD or updating your RAM. But there are so many different kinds of SSDs that it can be overwhelming, so it’s important to do some research and find out which SSDs are the best.

If you do manage to download the Windows Subsystem for Android beta, note that the selection is pretty slim. There are only a hand full of games available with no news if more are coming. But the selection of Android apps is pretty decent as it has other games like Minecraft and some non-game apps.

If you still want to try out Android apps on your computer, there are other options. There exist Android emulators that allow people to use apps on a Windows 10 and 11 computer, and the best part is that the best ones are free.
