Bluetooth is a quick and convenient way to transfer files between your Mac and other Bluetooth-enabled devices. That is why it can be frustrating when Bluetooth doesn’t work on your machine. This tutorial will run through all the fixes for trying to fix Bluetooth connection problems in macOS.

1. Is Bluetooth enabled on both devices?

There’s a chance you may have accidentally disabled Bluetooth on either your Mac or the target device(s). It may sound obvious, but it’s always worth double-checking that Bluetooth really is enabled!

On macOS

If you added the Bluetooth icon to your Mac’s menu bar, then a quick glance will tell you whether it’s enabled.

If the Bluetooth icon isn’t displayed as part of your Mac’s menu bar, then:

On the target device

If the target device is a peripheral such as a mouse or keyboard, then try flipping it over and checking for a switch or a button that enables Bluetooth. If the device is a smartphone or computer, you should check the device’s settings to make sure the Bluetooth is turned on.

2. Does your peripheral have power?

For peripherals like computer mice and keyboards, it isn’t always so obvious when it is running out of power. Your Mac cannot connect to a device that’s turned off, so check that the peripheral has power!

Many peripherals have LEDs that indicate when the device is switched on. If these LEDs aren’t illuminated as expected, this may indicate that the device isn’t switched on, so try toggling its “on/off” switch. If the device is battery-powered, check that the batteries haven’t come loose or try inserting a new set of batteries.

Some peripherals may also enter power-saving mode when they’ve been inactive for an extended period of time. If you suspect your peripheral may have fallen asleep, try interacting with it. For example, press a few keys on your Bluetooth-enabled keyboard. Once the device wakes up, it should be ready to connect to your Mac over Bluetooth.

Does your peripheral have enough power?

Just because a peripheral has some battery power doesn’t mean it has enough juice to maintain a Bluetooth connection. Some devices disable Bluetooth automatically when their battery drops below a certain level.

If you suspect your peripheral may be running low on battery, try connecting it to a power outlet, insert new batteries, or put its batteries on charge.

3. Is there some outstanding setup?

If you’re trying to connect a device for the very first time, there is always a pairing process you need to perform:

1. Select the Apple logo in your Mac’s menu bar.

2. Select “System Preferences.”

3. Choose the preference pane that corresponds to the peripheral you’re having issues with, such as Keyboard or Mouse. This pane should contain some settings that you can use to connect the peripheral to your Mac, such as “Set Up Bluetooth Keyboard … ”

Even if you previously connected this device to your Mac, you may need to repeat the setup process if you’ve recently updated macOS or performed any kind of factory reset.

4. Is your Bluetooth preference list corrupt?

If you’ve tried all the above fixes and macOS is still refusing to connect over Bluetooth, then your Bluetooth preference list may be to blame. The Bluetooth.plist file can become corrupted over time, so deleting Bluetooth.plist and letting macOS regenerate this file can resolve a host of Bluetooth-related issues.

Your Mac will now recreate the Bluetooth preference list automatically.

5. Resetting NVRAM

Non-volatile random-access memory (NVRAM) is a small amount of memory where macOS stores the settings it needs to access quickly, including some settings related to Bluetooth. If these settings become corrupted, it can cause a range of technical issues, so resetting your NVRAM may resolve your Bluetooth connection problems.

Before we begin, just be aware that resetting NVRAM will also reset your system settings and preferences, so you may need to spend some time reapplying these settings following an NVRAM reset.

To reset NVRAM:

1. Shut down your Mac as normal.

2. Power up your Mac and immediately press Option + Command P + R. Keep holding these keys until your Mac restarts.

3. Release the keys.

You’ve now successfully reset your Mac’s NVRAM.

6. Reset the Bluetooth module

1. On your desktop, hold down the Shift + Option keys.

3. Select Debug.

You’ll now have access to two debug settings to reset your Mac’s Bluetooth settings:

Reset the Bluetooth module: This will wipe all of the Bluetooth hardware module’s settings. Resetting the module will disconnect every device and peripheral that’s currently connected to your Mac via Bluetooth, so you’ll temporarily lose connection and may need to manually reconnect some or all of your devices following the module reset.

Factory reset all connected Apple devices: This will restore factory settings for all Apple-branded devices currently connected to your Mac.

Fix Common Problems With Macos Time Machine

Time Machine is a great, convenient backup tool, but it doesn’t always work perfectly. Fortunately, the most common problems have relatively straight-forward solutions. Here are some fixes for common problems with macOS Time Machine.

Time Machine won’t back up

After updating to Sierra or High Sierra, some users find that Time Machine simply won’t back up. Fixing the problem requires an SMC reset and a PRAM reset.

SMC Reset

1. Shut down your Mac.

2. If you can remove the battery or disconnect the power cable, do that. Wait ten seconds before proceeding.

3. If you cannot disconnect the power, use a keystroke instead. After your Mac shuts down, press Shift + Control + Option on the left side of the built-in keyboard, then press the Power button at the same time. Hold these keys and the power button for ten seconds.

4. Plug the power cable back in or replace the battery if you removed it.

PRAM Reset

1. Turn on the computer.

2. Press and hold Command + Option + P + R. Continue holding the keys down until the computer restarts again and you hear the startup chime twice.

3. Continue booting as normal.

Drive is read-only

If your drive’s permissions have been damaged, you will often be prevented from writing to the disk. To address this problem, you can try to repair the problems with the disk. The simplest method requires diskutil in Terminal. Keep in mind that this can be a result of early problems with the disk itself. It might indicate that there’s a problem with the drive. You may need to consider replacing the drive if this problem appears more than once.

1. Open Terminal from “Applications/Utilities/” or type “Terminal” into Spotlight.

2. List the attached disks by typing diskutil list.

3. Locate the partition used for Time Machine. Find the device and disk number, formatted like disk1s5, as in our example.

4. Verify the volume by typing diskutil verifyVolume [volume name]. In our example we would use diskutil verifyVolume /dev/disk1s5.

5. If you find any errors, run disktuil repairVolume [volume name].

Time Machine hangs on “Preparing Backup”

One of the most common bugs in Time Machine involves hanging on the beginning of the backup process.

If the Time Machine process is starting or appears to be lagging, open the Time Machine preference pane in System Preferences.

Look for the text underneath the Time Machine progress bar.

If the backup is progressing properly, it should show the number of items remaining to be processed. That number should be steadily, if slowly, increasing. If you don’t see that number increase over 30 minutes, you’ll need to take action.

Troubleshooting the Problem

1. Uncheck the box next to “Back Up Automatically” in the Time Machine preference window. This will disable Time Machine and stop any backup processes.

2. Make sure Spotlight is not indexing your backup by adding your Time Machine volume to the Privacy pane of the Spotlight preferences window in System Preferences.

3. Find and remove the “.inProgress” folder. You’ll find that folder in the “Backups.backupdb” folder on your Time Machine drive. It will have a name like 2024-05-04-175540.inProgress. When you find that folder, delete it.

4. Turn Time Machine back on.


Time Machine is extremely convenient, but it can be a troublesome backup tool. While it has become more reliable since its introduction, problems still occur. Time Machine shouldn’t be your only backup tool, but it is useful as part of your backup process.

Few things are as frustrating as having to deal with an intermittent internet connection that keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. Maybe you’re working on an urgent task, binging on your favorite program on Netflix, or playing a heated online game, only to be abruptly disconnected for whatever reason.

In this guide, we’re going to show you the usual suspects behind a bad internet connection and possible solutions that can resolve the problem.

What Causes Intermittent Internet Connections

An intermittent internet connection is often a result of several issues:

Physical or electronic interference from devices such as cordless phones or other electronics large metal objects and electrical equipment like TVs, microwaves or home entertainment electronics.

Wireless networks running in your area at the same frequency.

Physical obstructions such as floors, appliances, walls, furniture and more can cause interference, especially where wireless signals pass through them.

Corrupt Windows system files

Problems caused by Windows updates

Faulty network card in your computer or outdated drivers

An overheating modem

Issues with your Internet service provider

Virus or malware infection

Software conflicts

You can do this whether you’re at home or have a portable computer at your workplace if you know where the WiFi router or hotspot is positioned.

If you are in a location where there could be many different wireless networks, it’s probably a good idea to use a WiFi scanner app and change your Wifi channel to something else.

Disconnect Devices Connected To Your WiFi

When multiple devices are using your WiFi all at once, there’s not enough bandwidth for each device, so disconnecting some of them can improve performance on your computer.

This is especially true if you have a lot of smart home devices connected like digital assistants, indoor and outdoor cameras, etc. Another option is trying to switch your device to a wired Ethernet connection rather than slower WiFi.

Move WiFi Devices Away From Other Transmitting Devices

When wireless devices such as cordless phones, Bluetooth devices, baby monitors, and others are closer to each other, they all try to send data over the air. Moving them away from other transmitting devices or turning them off when you’re not using them can help improve your connection.

Power Cycle Your Router

If your router can’t maintain a steady connection, check if it’s overheating and power it off until it cools down, or try power cycling it and see if the connection improves.

Also, if you’re using the cable modem provided by your ISP instead of your own and you’ve had it for longer than 6 months or 1 year, it’s not a bad idea to call them and ask them to replace it. Those devices are usually really cheap and last a very short time in my experience.

Check Service Alerts

Your intermittent internet connection may be due to issues with your ISP. Check the service alerts for your area and see if it’s one of those affected before concluding that it’s an issue with your router or your device. 

Contact your ISP to see if the problem is on their end. They can run system and line checks to determine whether there’s any issue between them and your computer, and suggest possible fixes for the connection problem.

Check With Other Devices

If you have another computer or device that uses the same internet connection, test whether the connection is stable on those devices. If they also have the same issue, it could be a problem with the router or modem, or your ISP. 

If it’s only with the device you’re currently using, check for hardware failures or operating system issues, which are common causes of internet connection problems.

Network Card Failure

Your computer’s network card may struggle keeping a steady internet connection. You can fix it by reinstalling the network card drivers.

You can also check the network card manufacturer’s website for updated device drivers, download and install them to your computer. Reboot your computer and test your connection again.

If you have a removable network card and know how to go about re-seating it, you can remove it and insert it back into the PCI slot to ensure it is seated firmly in the slot. Once done, return everything back to its usual place, plug in the power cord and power on your computer. Test whether the connection is stable.

Corrupted Windows System Files

Internet connectivity issues can be caused by corrupted Windows operating system files. Try running the system file checker first to see if anything comes up. You can also perform a system restore to replace the corrupt files with clean ones and then check your internet connection again.

Malware Or Virus Infection

An intermittent internet connection could also be caused by a virus or malware infection on your router or computer. If it’s severe, it may not even work, but the remedy is to use the best antivirus available that can nuke any virus or spyware, and stabilize your connection.

Security Software Conflicts

Your security software programs like antivirus or firewall may interfere with your internet connection. To resolve this, check the settings for either program and see which ones are enabled. Try to disable them temporarily and see if your internet connection stabilizes. 

If it does, check with the antivirus manufacturer if the setting is important for your device’s protection. If it’s not, you can leave it disabled for an improved internet connection.

Run Network Troubleshooter

The Network Troubleshooter helps diagnose and fix the usual internet connection issues, but you can check whether there’s an underlying cause to the bad connection you have.

Replace Your Modem Or Router

If restarting your router didn’t work, a more in-depth solution is to reset your wireless router. This is a bit more involved as you have to setup all the WiFi settings again, but could fix the issue.

If you’re still experiencing a bad internet connection after trying the suggestions above, your network card, router or modem may be defective. In this case, get a new router, modem or network card and see if the connection is better.

Hide Windows Updates Or Driver Updates

If you can’t download and install a new network adapter driver, you can hide the Windows Update that caused you to lose your network connection. In Windows:

Network Reset

If the steps above don’t help, reset your network as a last resort. This can solve internet connection issues especially after upgrading from a previous version of Windows to Windows 10, or when you can’t connect to shared network drives.

A network reset uninstalls and removes network adapters you may have installed, plus their settings. Once you restart your PC, the network adapters will be reinstalled, and their settings set back to default.

What is the SQLAlchemy connection?

The Sqlalchemy connection is the library that can mainly interact with various databases. It enabled the data models and queries with the python classes and the statements. We can use the create_engine() method for the sqlalchemy library for connecting the URL and returning with the sqlalchemy engine referenced with both dialect and the Pool, which interpret along with the DBAPI’s module function with different behavior of the databases. We have successfully created the database connection for the databases like MySQL, Postgresql, Microsoft SQL, etc. The local instance of the database is designed for the sql databases and dialect with the drivers for establishing the connection.

How to use SQLAlchemy connection?

The sqlalchemy engine is created via the create_engine() method, and its call through the typical usage for the specific database URL through globally spent with the single server application process. A single-engine that manages the many individual DBAPI connections with the process is mainly intended to be the concurrent process. The engine is not synonymous with the DBAPI connect method. This function represents the database engine connection resource and efficiently creates the application module for every object or function call. It also uses a multi-tasking application. The process uses the basic system called for the python module like the multiprocessing module, and is usually required for the different engines along with the child process.

We can maintain the engine via the reference for the connection pool that ultimately references the DBAPI connections that tend to be portable across boundaries. An engine is configured to the polling achieved via the NullPool that matches the requirement. If the connection is the instance type, then the proxy object is mainly called for the actual DBAPI connection. It provides a largely compatible interface and the DBAPI cursor; the resulting proxy is used to connect the database drivers for the table rows and columns. The sqlalchemy engine connection has been established with the databases; it may be PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, etc.

Here I have used SQLite database to create the engine and session to access the user data from the backend to UI.

SqlAlchemy connection Usage

A database like PyMySQL is the Python library that can be used to connect the MySQL database or other db servers that are already installed command like Pip install using pymysql command can be used to set it up environment. Because of the new way, the forma fields like passwords column can be worked on the previous form of the database like MySQL version 4.1,  which is supported on the SQLAlchemy library that requires MySQL version 4.1 or higher version. Then additionally, if we need the statement type that can only be available with a specific version of MySQL, Oracle, or SQLite. The  SQLAlchemy library does not give the proper way to use those statements on the database like MySQL and other database versions. In contrast, the statement isn’t available on the Result set. A proper validation rule should consult with the database documentation if a component or function in the SQLAlchemy does not appear in the work environment.

The general workflow of the sqlalchemy connection is the above diagram for calling the connect() method in the engine that shares the datas to the POOL and Dialect memory along with the DBAPIs database.

First, we must import the sqlalchemy libraries like import sqlalchemy, datetime, etc.

Based on the concepts and requirements, we have to import the libraries.

Next, we import and set the database in the Metadata classes.

metadata = sa.MetaData(‘sqlite:///Mar9.db’, echo = True)

We created the table in the specific database called Mar9.db

With the help of the instance, we can call and create the table columns like id, date, etc.

The data type of the id should be the integer, and the date should be the datetime type.

The engine is called with the help of variables and executes the default methods like execute(), insert(), etc.

Insert() method is used to insert the values in the table

Execute() method helps execute the query in the table result set.

And then, we created the databases and their tables using the python classes.

Which has already been imported on the sqlalchemy functions and its libraries

We created the table columns like id as the integer attribute and acted as the primary key to perform the unique operations in the backend.

The other column, like invid, also an integer, acts as the Foreign key to fetch the table data from the previous table reference.

Here we can perform the database relationship from one table to another table data by using the primary key and foreign key concepts.

The metadata references hold all other tables, especially the classes that contain the DBAPIs relationship for more than one table.


The database engine connections are the most important way to perform the user operations from the UI view to the backend. Here is the sqlalchemy python-based library that can be supported to create the database tables with required columns and perform the user operations, which depends on the project requirements.

To find out exactly where the problem is, try connecting your audio gadget to another device, like your smartphone or tablet. If the issue persists, you’ll know the problem is not your Mac computer. But if your earbuds or headphones work fine, you’ll need to focus your attention on your machine. 

To rule out the possibility that your computer is simply not playing well with audio equipment, try pairing it with another set of wireless speakers. If you’re still only hearing from one side, you’ve found a macOS audio balance bug.

How to fix macOS’ audio balance bug

The solution for this incredibly annoying problem is surprisingly simple: just open up Settings and go to Sound. There, under the Output tab, you’ll see a slider right next to Balance. You’ve probably never even touched this option before, but don’t be surprised if you see the slider is all the way to the right or left—that’s what the bug does. Just move the slider to the center and your problem should be solved.
