The Test

We have tested the speed of Jio’s 4G and Airtel 4G by putting both the SIMs in two similar handsets. The smartphone we have used for testing in different areas of Delhi is Vivo V5.

Location 1 TRAI

The download speed on Jio was 7.5 Mbps while the upload speed was 6.73 Mbps. Coming to Airtel, the download speed was 4.2 Mbps and upload speed was 6.71 Mbps. Clearly, at our first location, Jio surpassed Airtel’s 4G speed with a slight margin.

Ookla

On Ookla, the results were quite similar but, with a change in figures. Jio gave us the download speed of 8 Mbps and upload speed was 2.6 Mbps. Airtel gave us a download speed of 0.14 Mbps while the upload speed was approximately 2 mbps. Again, Airtel has disappointed us with poor results at our first location.

Location 2 TRAI

Jio gave us a download speed of 1.1 Mbps while the upload speed was 1.3 Mbps. At our second location, Airtel gave us better results with 4.6 Mbps download speed and 4.2 Mbps upload speed.

Ookla

Ookla gave us surprising results and Jio performed quite poor at our second location. The download speed was 0.99 Mbps while the upload speed was 1.35 Mbps. Airtel was a clear winner in the speed test with 9.7 Mbps download speed and 6.1 Mbps upload speed.

Location 3

Our next location was India Gate and we did our test again with both the applications. Below are the findings.

TRAI

Ookla

Jio again performed poor and gave us a download speed of 4.6 Mbps and upload speed of  0.18 Mbps. Airtel took the lead with a fair margin of 22 Mbps in download and approximately 4 Mbps in upload. Clearly, Airtel has surpassed Jio’s performance at our third location.

Location 4

Our next location was Khan Market and again we did our test with both the apps. Here are the findings

TRAI

Jio gave us a download speed of 7.52 Mbps while the upload speed was poor, measuring 0.63 Mbps. Airtel again gave us good results with 16 Mbps download speed and 6.67 Mbps upload speed.

Ookla Location 5

So, we continued our test across different parts of Delhi and took a done our testing at Lajpat Nagar market. Below are the results.

TRAI

Jio gave us a download speed of 3.9 Mbps while the upload speed was quite better than the previous results but, not too good and measured 2.2 Mbps. Airtel gave us impressive results with a download speed of 18.11 Mbps and upload speed of 6.24 Mbps.

Ookla

Jio clocked a download speed of 3.16 Mbps while the upload speed was restricted to 2.74 Mbps. Airtel also gave us quite a poor result with 4.28 MBPS download speed and 8.61 Mbps upload speed. But, overall, again Airtel performed better than Jio.

Location 6

TRAI

Jio has consistently given us poor results and here the speed was 1.99 Mbps for download and  2.86 Mbps for upload. Whereas Airtel gave us a download speed of  4.09 Mbps and upload speed of 6.39 Mbps.

Ookla

Jio again gave us poor results with 2.64 Mbps download speed and 0 Mbps upload speed. Airtel gave us better results and gave us 12 Mbps download speed and 7.53 Mbps upload speed.

Location 7

TRAI

Jio again gave us poor results with 1.23 Mbps download speed and 0.12 Mbps as upload speed. Airtel again overshadows the Jio’s 4G speed with 23.64 Mbps download speed and 7.29 Mbps upload speed.

Conclusion

So, this was our speed test comparison between Airtel 4G and Jio 4G and clearly, Airtel has given us better results. After the Jio’s New Year offer ends, let’s see if there is any difference in the 4G speed of Jio or Airtel continues to lead the segment.

Experts Think These Cryptocurrencies Will Be Must

In 2023, nearly every crypto investor has been on an emotional rollercoaster of constant ups and downs in the market, and many are still recovering from a few lost investments. As the new year draws closer, traders are looking to make some necessary changes.

Crypto investors are looking to optimize their portfolios either by investing in new coins or creating new portfolios entirely. Knowing which tokens to invest in is critical to setting up a successful crypto portfolio.

Choosing the right ones from the myriad of coins available in the crypto market can be quite tricky. We’ll talk about some of the cryptocurrencies, such as Calvaria, Dash 2 Trade, Tamadoge, and IMPT, you must have in your portfolio in 2023. However, let’s first take a look at how to choose cryptocurrencies to invest in.

Choosing Cryptocurrencies for Your Portfolio

Choosing the right coins to trade or invest in is very important in helping you set up an excellent crypto portfolio. Thus, here are some factors to consider when selecting cryptocurrencies for your portfolio:

Utility

Different tokens can be used differently for various transactions, and as cryptocurrency continues to evolve, there could be more use cases for certain tokens. Cryptos with more utility become more accepted by the crypto community, which ultimately increases their demand and value.

Whitepaper

Every cryptocurrency has a whitepaper containing certain details, such as its use, the technology it runs on, and even the vision behind the coin’s creation. You can invest in a cryptocurrency if the details in the white paper seem reasonable enough.

As time goes on, you can evaluate the coin’s performance in terms of fulfilling its intended purposes. If the coin is successful, there can be a significant increase in its value in the foreseeable future.

7 Must-have Cryptocurrencies in 2023

Now that we know what to look out for when selecting cryptocurrencies for investment, let’s take a look at some crypto assets that experts believe every crypto enthusiast and investor must have in their portfolio come 2023:

Calvaria (RIA)

– Unique blockchain-based p2e card game

Dash 2 Trade (D2T)

– World-class crypto analytics platform

Tamadoge (TAMA)

– Unique meme coin with amazing utilities

IMPT.io (IMPT)

– Best eco-friendly cryptocurrency

Ripple (XRP) – An open-source platform for easy transfer of money

Ethereum (ETH) – Number one decentralized platform for dApps and smart contracts

Binance coin (BNB) – Native token of Binance exchange

1. Dash 2 Trade (D2T)

Dash 2 Trade is developed by the makers of Learn 2 Trade, a UK-based forex e-learning service provider. This platform stands out for its unique approach to blockchain. Rather than limit its utility to being just a fast, scalable means of doing transactions, it goes one step further by offering investors an all-in-one solution to trading.

Although the platform is free to access, certain features can only be unlocked upon subscription to two of the three separate tiers (the first tier is free).

Dash 2 Trade has an API for users to automate their trading activities. Additionally, there’s an analytics dashboard to help traders gain improved insight into historical market trends and the reasons behind market price movements.

2. Calvaria (RIA)

Calvaria is a gaming ecosystem where players compete in tournaments with special battle cards representing different characters within the gaming Universe. The Universe is based on ancient Mexican mythology, and the characters have unique abilities.

By playing the games and earning rewards, you can earn tokenized in-game assets, which you can use to upgrade your battle characters to increase your chances of earning even more rewards.

The game’s goal is to defeat your opponents via a range of complex battle tactics and strategies. Additionally, you can earn NFTs in-game and list them for sale on a blockchain NFT exchange like Rarity and OpenSea.

The game also has various modes to cater to players’ tastes and preferences. The ecosystem’s native token, RIA, is sure to be in high demand over the coming months, which will get its price pumping.

3. chúng tôi (IMPT)

IMPT is another new cryptocurrency that has shown great potential even before the end of 2023. The coin only recently launched its presale but has thousands of brand partnerships that have boosted its popularity.

IMPT takes the initiative of financing projects that aim to reverse the effects of carbon footprints. A fantastic feature of IMPT is that it is designed to provide solutions to climate change and runs on the Ethereum blockchain, which is one of the most energy-efficient blockchains.

IMPT tokens can be obtained from any of the project’s brand affiliates or the official website. The overall goal is to tokenize carbon credits, with users having the option to convert them to NFTs. Users can then trade these NFTs, thereby contributing their quota to environmental conservation by eliminating carbon footprints.

IMPT’s initial acceptance and project uniqueness make it highly valuable and profitable for investors, and it is primed to peak in value by 2023.

4. Tamadoge (TAMA)

TAMA is a unique cryptocurrency that will be a must-have in 2023. This unique cryptocurrency is a P2E (play to earn) NFTs, Metaverse-based meme coin that has taken the crypto market by storm.

Launched in July 2023, TAMA is one of the newest crypto projects in town. For now, its value is relatively low, at less than $1. But, given its record-breaking global presale launch and unprecedented acceptance in crypto communities, TAMA certainly has a bright future.

TAMA runs on a play-to-earn platform that gives users the liberty to breed and battle their Tamadoge pets. The TAMA coin, pets, games, and metaverse all form the Tamadoge ecosystem, called the Tamaverse. TAMA is one of the few tokens to make a profit throughout the 2023 bear market and generated more than $19 million in its eight-week presale. It is definitely a coin to have in 2023.

5. Ripple (XRP)

XRP has grown rapidly in recent times and has the potential to be one of the big-booming tokens of 2023. At the time of writing this article, XRP is valued at $0.4+, with a 1.31% price appreciation in the past 24 hours. While this might not seem like much, cryptocurrency gains tend to accrue over time. If XRP maintains its momentum going into 2023, traders can be sure of doubling, even quadrupling, their investments.

Another reason XRP is sure to boom in 2023 is its energy-efficient blockchain and capacity for processing transactions speedily. These factors combine to make XRP a cryptocurrency that you should have in your portfolio come 2023.

6. Ethereum (ETH)

Ethereum is one of the most promising cryptocurrencies to buy and hold today. The Ethereum ecosystem is constantly developing to make the coin more relevant. Some recent developments aim to make the platform more scalable while increasing the processing speed for transactions on the network.

Indeed, Ethereum has been one of the in-demand coins even before recent developments. Thus, we can only expect more demand and a concomitant increase in price as its use cases keep wowing the crypto world at large.

7. Binance Coin (BNB)

Binance coin was launched in 2023 and has since experienced significant growth. The exceptional performance of BNB, coupled with its affiliation with arguably the number one exchange platform in the world, Binance, gives it a place among the best-performing tokens in the market.

BNB is supported on many of the most popular exchange platforms and has been adopted as a secure payment method for several online stores and e-commerce sites. The token has a very promising future and should feature on every successful crypto portfolio in 2023.

Conclusion

The year 2023 has been a poor year for the cryptocurrency market in general. In fact, traders and investors are more anxious than ever to make the right decisions in order to reap the rewards in the coming year. Unfortunately, not all tokens will perform exceptionally in 2023. However, we’ve identified five potentially booming tokens for you! Adding these assets to your crypto portfolio ahead of 2023 should be a no-brainer! They are must-have tokens!

Google Audio Search – Will It Ever Be Possible?

Will it ever be possible for Google to create an index of audio content that users can search through like web pages?

Results of early testing, which Google published in a blog article, indicates audio search is harder to accomplish than it might sound.

Details of these tests are shared in an article penned by Tim Olson, SVP of digital strategic partnerships at KQED.

Google is partnering with KQED in a joint effort to make audio more findable.

With the help of chúng tôi an AI services provider, Google and KQED ran tests to determine how to transcribe audio in a way that’s fast and error-free.

Here’s what they discovered.

The Difficulties of Audio Search

The greatest obstacle to making audio search a possibility is the fact that audio must be converted to text before it can be searched and sorted.

There’s currently no way to accurately transcribe audio in a way that allows it to be found quickly.

The only way audio search on a worldwide scale would ever be possible is through automated transcriptions. Manual transcriptions would take considerable time and effort away from publishers.

Limitations of Current Speech-to-Text Technology

Google conducted tests with KQED and chúng tôi by applying the latest speech-to-text tools to a collection of audio news.

Limitations were discovered in the AI’s ability to identify proper nouns (also known as named entities).

Named entities sometimes need context to be understood to be identified accurately, which the AI doesn’t always have.

“KQED’s local news audio is rich in references of named entities related to topics, people, places, and organizations that are contextual to the Bay Area region. Speakers use acronyms like “CHP” for California Highway Patrol and “the Peninsula” for the area spanning San Francisco to San Jose. These are more difficult for artificial intelligence to identify.”

When named entities aren’t understood, the AI makes its best guess of what was said. However, that’s an unacceptable solution for web search, because an incorrect transcription can change the entire meaning of what was said.

What’s Next?

Work will continue on audio search with plans to make the technology widely accessible when it gets developed.

David Stoller, Partner Lead for News & Publishing at Google, says the technology will be openly shared when work on this project is complete.

“One of the pillars of the Google New Initiative is incubating new approaches to difficult problems. Once complete, this technology and associated best practices will be openly shared, greatly expanding the anticipated impact.”

Today’s machine learning models aren’t learning from their mistakes, Olson of KQED says, which is where humans may need to step in.

The next step is to test a feedback loop where newsrooms help to improve the machine learning models by identifying common transcription errors.

“We’re confident that in the near future, improvements into these speech-to-text models will help convert audio to text faster, ultimately helping people find audio news more effectively.”

Augmented Reality Visor Will Overlay Data On The Real World

When you wear a screen on your face, “there’s a lack of situational awareness of the actual world,” says Leap Motion co-founder Michael Buckwald, sipping a soda at a demo at the company offices in San Francisco. “Also, every time I want to take a sip of Coke, I have to take the Oculus Rift off.”

“In a first-person shooter, you need to be able to turn around quickly,” says Omar Khan, the lead Unity developer at Austin-based Chaotic Moon, which designed a humorous Oculus Rift game called Shark Punch. “And if you’re sitting in a chair, tethered to a computer, it’s very difficult to be able to turn. And to aim — it’s very awkward, it’s kind of weird.”

The system gives a user full awareness of the real world while immersed in a virtual one.

Most importantly, Leap has released an application programming interface (API) that will essentially turn the device into a 3-D camera, by letting programmers access infrared data about the user’s surroundings. Using this API, raw infrared imagery of the real world can blend with a representation of the virtual realm. This is a crucial milestone on the way to true augmented reality.

Leap VR

“We’re able to take the live feed of what [users] see and convert it on the fly into a virtual world,” says Khan. “That is something that is quite different.”

Google Glass bombed with many early adopters because it was essentially a “phone for your face” that did nothing more than display output from conventional apps. The new API will incorporate the room into the game. This is true augmented reality.

Medical students might take nanoscale walking tours of the brain.

“Let’s say we wanted to create a game where we create creatures that come out of the environment around us, like my office,” says Khan. “Because of the ability of [the new API] to give you raw image data, you could make a tree grow right in the middle of your office. Or, if you want enemies to come spawning at you, there’s your desk, and all of a sudden, there’s this goblin in your desk. So there’s a lot of things you can do that haven’t been seen before.”

Medical students might take nanoscale walking tours of the brain. Or high schoolers might go on intergalactic journeys. The ability of the device to track tiny .01 millimeter finger motions, far finer than those by the Microsoft Kinect, permits sculpting of 3D virtual objects that might give rise to a new generation of claymation artists.

But in the short-term, virtual reality will sink or swim with gaming. Khan thinks game studios will be attracted by the possibility of doing something entirely new. After all, in theory, the raw-image data will allow you to turn your ordinary living room into the infested space station from Aliens.

“We know that our office looks like this, has a wall over here, but we want to render something from Aliens. We could do that. Or you could create a Nerf battle virtually, or a paintball game virtually, in your office,” Khan says. “Everyone is walking around Oculus Rifts and Leap Motion cameras, pulling data from where they’re at.”

These games can get gamers off their behinds in a far more elaborate way than with the Wii or the Kinect, because you’re no longer tethered to your T.V. or to your same-old surroundings.

Will We Spend More Time In Metaverse Than In The Real World?

Will You Spend More Time in Metaverse than in the Real World? What is Metaverse?

The Metaverse is a term used to describe a virtual reality world that is fully immersive and interactive. It is a digital world where users can interact with each other and with digital objects in a way that feels real and natural. You Should Not Be Worried About Sephora Giving You Herpes

The internet is all agog over news of a Los Angeles lawsuit: according to court documents, an individual is suing the beauty store Sephora for strict liability, negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligent infliction of emotional distress after allegedly catching oral herpes from a lipstick sample.

You can’t put “herpes” in a headline without people losing their damn minds, so we’re here to unpack this for you.

What’s the lawsuit actually about?

According to court documents filed October 26 in LA County, the plaintiff got a positive diagnosis for HSV-1—commonly known as oral herpes—in “exact alignment” with a 2023 visit to Sephora in which she tried on lipstick from the “common use” lipstick sampler. The “incurable lifelong affliction” is causing her severe emotional distress, so she’s suing for damages.

The suit argues that Sephora employees should explicitly tell customers not to directly apply makeup instead of using the readily available disposable applicators, because many users are “very young females and uneducated and unsophisticated females.” Which is kind of an offensive generalization to make about folks who wear makeup? But hey, that’s not science. So what do we know.

Note: We are in no way suggesting that the plaintiff in this case did or did not get herpes from a Sephora lipstick. We’re just here to tell you, a reader who is presumably now convinced they will get herpes from a lipstick, that you probably will not ever get herpes from a lipstick. But it’s totally possible!

Wait, can you get herpes from lipstick?

Herpes is a really, really cool virus. HSV creeps in through any break in the skin or stretch of mucus membrane and lives dormant in your nerve cells, rarely making itself known. More on that in a minute.

Herpes is primarily spread via skin-to-skin contact or saliva. People with HSV often aren’t contagious, but sometimes—especially if they’re presenting with symptoms like cold sores—they can experience “viral shedding,” which is just what it sounds like. Herpes can’t survive long outside of the body, but it’s technically possible that it could hold on just long enough to infect a new host if two people used the same lipstick in very quick succession, especially if the second user had open wounds on their lips. When a similar case came up against MAC in 2013, a physician told Cosmopolitan that it could happen.

But this is a rare enough form of transmission that Planned Parenthood, to name just one example, says you can’t catch herpes from sharing a drinking glass or food. Many other physicians and researchers say that this transmission may technically be possible, but is highly unlikely. One particularly fear mongering article from Teen Vogue that calls herpes “horrifying” cites a cosmetic dentist as its source. Please do not ask a dentist to treat your herpes.

On that note: Yeah, you probably have herpes. Like, really. You almost certainly have herpes.

“The fact that someone has never had cold sores means nothing,” Handsfield said. “You would have to do a blood test showing there were no HSV-1 antibodies at the time of the outbreak, and then show several weeks later that there were now antibodies. Without that, there’s no way to know it’s a new infection.”

And even if it is a new infection, he added, you have to factor in any oral sex or kissing (even friendly familial kissing) that occurred during the same time period.

“Any of that contact during the one to two weeks before the first onset of symptoms would be a more plausible source of infection than a lipstick,” he said. “I suppose if someone with oral herpes and an active infection had used it literally in the minute before this woman used it, I’d have to say sure, there’s some theoretical possibility, but it seems a stretch.”

The fact that herpes is so stigmatized and can lay dormant for so long can lead to these sorts of implausible connections, he explained. “They get an outbreak, or they suddenly transmit it to a partner after years together, which can happen and they don’t understand where it came from because the exposure was so long ago,” he said. Handsfield runs a website where he answers questions about sexually transmitted infections, and he still has folks ask him if their herpes could have come from a contaminated toilet seat. “My answer is always, well, what parts of your body actually touch the toilet? If people showed up with a ring of herpes sores around the upper butt, I’d say, sure, maybe. But I don’t think, in general, that penises or labia are ending up on toilet seats.”

“You don’t have to invoke these magical explanations,” he said. “But plenty of people do.”

Other physicians we reached out to expressed the same opinion: it’s very likely the plaintiff had the virus before using the lipstick, because most people have herpes, and most of those people don’t know they have herpes. Your first cold sore often comes months or years after you catch the virus, if you ever get a cold sore at all.

“We can say with confidence that while there’s a theoretical risk here, the reality is there is a very minimal likelihood of contracting herpes through lipstick,” a representative of the American Sexual Health Association told Popular Science. “The virus doesn’t live very long on surfaces and proving that someone contracted herpes this way would be difficult. Most adults in the U.S. have oral herpes and in most cases there’s no practical way to pin down when or just how it was contracted.” The herpes virus is very fragile, and there are currently no documented cases of someone definitely acquiring it from an inanimate object.

Even if this transmission truly occurred, Handsfield said, there’s a reason it’s making such a ruckus—it’s clearly incredibly rare.

Wait, I have herpes?

Yup! Welcome to the least exclusive club in the world.

A 2023 study by the World Health Organization found that 2 out of 3 people under the age of 50 have Herpes Simplex Virus 1 (HSV-1). The CDC’s latest data on HSV-2 (genital herpes, though either virus can live in either place) suggests that over 15 percent of Americans have it, and it’s more common in women, young people, and those who live in urban areas. Plus, some 90 percent of people who are diagnosed with herpes by way of a blood test have never had symptoms and had no idea they had it. So it’s likely that actual infection rates are higher than those surveys suggest.

Once you lump together HSV-1, HSV-2, and the fact that lots of cases of both go totally undetected, if you’re totally herpes free you probably didn’t do enough smooching as a tween. Herpes isn’t a sign of some moral failure or decline. Herpes happens.

How scared should I be about having herpes?

Don’t be scared about having herpes. Everybody has herpes. If you know you have herpes, you can pretty easily keep from giving it to your sexual partners (more on that here). You’re very unlikely to ever have symptoms, let alone painful ones. If you do, there are antivirals you can take to suppress them. Everyone is different, but generally speaking? Do not worry about the herpes that you almost certainly have. That’s why lawsuits like these are kind of a bummer: they perpetuate the myth that herpes is a horrible cross to bear, which makes herpes a horrible cross to bear.

On the off chance I don’t have herpes, how can I avoid getting it from a lipstick?

Please don’t take any of this to mean you should waltz into a busy makeup store and put lipstick on straight from the tube. If you’re trying on makeup from a shared sample, for the love of all that is holy, use one of the disposable applicators. Be a good citizen of the world and do not double dip, lest ye contaminate the communal font of lip gloss with your own viruses and bacteria.

Maybe Sephora should have big signs up reminding its customers to practice good applicator hygiene when trying samples. But you shouldn’t need a big reminder. And if you’re trying cosmetics on straight from a shared vessel, herpes is the least of your problems. Partially because pinkeye is a thing, but mostly because you already have herpes.
