Suggested April 2024 Why You Shouldn’T Expect A Google Pixel Watch Any Time Soon

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

Since the dawn of time (okay, it’s only been a few years), Google Pixel Watch rumors have been circulating around the proverbial rumor mill. I don’t even remember when the first Pixel Watch rumors came to be, but since that time, we’ve still seen no real, believable evidence that a Pixel Watch even exists. So why does the internet continue to go crazy about Google releasing a first-party smartwatch?

There may be reasons for a Pixel Watch to exist, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. Google has other plans for its significant wearables push in the next few years. Just because we all want one doesn’t mean it’s the right move for Google.

Google’s Wear OS strategy has always been about third parties

Eric Zeman / Android Authority

Since its inception, Wear OS (then Android Wear) has always been about providing software for third-party smartwatch makers. Google’s first hardware partners — Samsung, LG, and Motorola — provided the hardware, and Google developed and updated the software. That strategy has continued on ever since. Even after the big Wear OS 3 update, Google seems to be more interested in providing software, including apps and services, to Wear OS watches rather than focusing on hardware. There’s a reason for that.

A Google Pixel Watch by any other name

Kaitlyn Cimino / Android Authority

Fitbit knows wearable hardware. It’s been making fitness trackers and smartwatches for years, and it’s been fine-tuning its health-tracking algorithms to provide accurate data to its users. It then collects that data to fine-tune things even more to keep improving its products. In other words, Fitbit is a veteran in the wearables world. It’s no wonder why Google looked to Fitbit when it was in the market to grow its wearables efforts.

If Google were to create a Pixel-branded smartwatch, it would be doing so under its own name, not Fitbit’s. That strategy seems entirely backward given the $2.1 billion it just spent on the world’s most popular wearables company.

Fitbit is already a recognizable, trustworthy name in the wearables industry. Google is… not so much.

Again, Fitbit knows wearable hardware, and Google knows wearable software. Why on Earth would Google make a Google-branded smartwatch and not use Fitbit’s hardware efforts or brand recognition? If anything, Google has work to do to make its name — as it’s associated with wearables — a household name.

Fitbit is already a household name. The company’s family-focused, inclusive brand strategy has made it so anyone — kids, adults, those with lots of money to spare, those with only a little — can have a Fitbit on their wrist.

We know a Fitbit smartwatch running Wear OS is being developed. Unfortunately, we have zero details about when that might happen or what it will look like, but we know it’s coming. Google owns Fitbit, and Fitbit is making a Wear OS smartwatch. I’m pretty sure that’s the closest we’re going to get to a Pixel Watch for the foreseeable future.

It may not sound like it, but I’d love for Google to make a Pixel Watch. I want that true Apple Watch rival for Android users. I want a watch with quick updates, stellar fitness tracking, and great battery life. If it happens, I believe it’ll come from Fitbit, not Google. Google has enough on its plate, and I don’t think adding Wear OS hardware to it will benefit the company in any quantifiable way.

Why You Should Definitely Use Reverse Image Search

Why You Should Definitely Use Reverse Image Search What Is Reverse Image Search

While Google is almost everyone’s go-to search engine, you can even make use of Yahoo reverse image search as well and the same goes for other browsers as well.

What Are The Benefits Of Reverse Image Search

1. Dent Plagiarism With Reverse Image Search

If you are an avid hard-working blogger or a photographer and find that someone else is repairing all the benefits of your image, a reverse image lookup will help you catch hold of the culprit. It’s your hard work, your image and no one else has the right to take the cake, except you.

2. Find The Name Of An Intriguing Image

Mesmerized by an image of a stunning car but just can’t figure out what the name of the model is or is it a beautiful dish that’s making your mouth water or a spectacular location whose name is stopping you from booking your tickets.  Well! A simple Google reverse image lookup is all that you need. If you can’t seem to comprehend what that image is, Google will.

3. Debunk Fake Media Profiles Using A Reverse Image Finder

Reverse image search can help you spot fake from genuine social media profiles. While a reverse image finder would help you reconnect with an old pal of yours. Not only this, it’ll even help you debunk someone who is just pretending to be your pal. How? When you search for pictures of a person using a reverse image search, you would land on the stark reality of the image and get to know if the source of that image is legitimate or not.

4.  More Customer Traction Through Backwards Image Search

Say, your target audience is searching for a product (with the help of backwards image search) and your product appears, you will immediately gain traction. This is because the customer already has a likability towards that particular image and boom! your product just appears then.

Now, let’s say you are a customer and you are searching for a product that is out of stock, the reverse image lookup will at least give you related images. This would not keep you waiting.

5. Reverse Picture Lookup Helps Generate Backlinks

If you are into SEO and all that jazz, you know how important the backlinks are for your blog/article or website. Reverse picture lookup can help you generate many back links. This can be your chance to ask people to give you (and your images) shout out!

Before We Say Adios For Now

We’d like to say, just as you punch in words to find results on your favorite search engine, reverse image search and you’ll just fall in love with it (like we did). And, if you have been an avid user of this feature, we’d like to know how it has astounded you (if it has).

Why You Should Create A Child Theme In WordPress

WordPress powers around 23% of all websites, and many users often need to customise the themes they use in some way. Some people choose to edit the theme files directly, but that poses a major problem: once the theme is updated, all modifications will be lost. This is where creating a child theme comes in.

What are child themes?

Child themes are simply custom themes that inherit the functions and style of the parent theme. By creating a child theme, you can easily make modifications to the parent theme and keep those changes even when the parent theme is updated.

Now that you know what a child theme is, let’s look at a few ways you can create child themes and some of the best practices to follow.

Getting started

I will be using the Twenty Fifteen theme for this tutorial, but this will work for any theme you choose to use.

To create a child theme, simply navigate to your “wp-content/themes” directory and create a new folder for your child theme. You can name the folder “twentyfifteen-child” or something like that.

Next, you’ll need to create a “style.css” file within your new child theme folder and populate the file with the following content:

/* Theme Name: Twenty Fifteen Child Description: Twenty Fifteen Child Author: Ayo Isaiah Template: twentyfifteen Version: 1.0.0

You can replace the theme name, URI, description and author name with details relevant to your child theme. The “Template” part, however, must be named after the directory of your parent theme.

In this case, the directory name for our parent theme is “twentyfifteen,” so the Template will be “twentyfifteen.” If you are using a different theme, don’t forget to update the template accordingly, or your child theme will break.

The next step is to properly enqueue the parent theme’s stylesheets so that your child theme can inherit the styles of the parents, and you can build from there. Some websites recommend that you use @import to do this, but that is no longer the best practice and should be avoided.

The best way to enqueue the parent theme styles is to create a “functions.php” file in your child theme folder and add the following contents:

That’s it; your child theme is now ready to be activated.

Activating your child theme Creating a child theme with a plugin

Making Customisations

Now that our theme is activated, you can view your website to see how it looks. Assuming you did everything correctly, it will appear exactly the same as the parent theme. From this point on, you can add custom CSS to your child theme’s chúng tôi file to override styles in the parent theme. Note that the styles you declare in your child theme will take priority over those in your parent theme, and you can now update the parent without any fear of losing your work.

If you want to add a new function to your website, you’ll need to declare the functions in your child theme’s “function.php” file which will be loaded alongside the parent theme’s “function.php” file.

Other template files

Other PHP files must be copied to the child theme directory and modified there. This is because unlike the “functions.php” file, the parent theme’s equivalent file will be ignored in favour of your own, so make sure you place the original file in the same position within your child theme as with the parent theme so everything works smoothly.

5 Reasons Why You Should Buy A Mechanical Keyboard

There you are, sitting on your office chair. Feeling comfortable and good about yourself. Let me tell you something. You are lost. You are a nobody. Why? Because you don’t have a mechanical keyboard in your life! Like some evangelical preacher, I have an idea I need to sell you. That is the glory of the mechanical keyboard. If you accept the mechanical keyboard into your life, you could be experiencing increased comfort, improved productivity, and glory! It will change the way you type forever! Don’t just ask me, there are plenty of fanatics that have forever converted from using cheap, rubber-dome keyboards to high-quality mechanicals. I have made a short list of five reasons why you should switch to a mechanical keyboard. I have faith that you will see the light.

The second reason why you need to switch to a mechanical keyboard is ergonomics. Mechanical keyboards generally have higher quality keycaps which are rounded to let your fingers rest on them more comfortably. Traditional laptop keys, with the exception of Lenovo’s, are flat. Flat keys are good for space-saving designs but you not only lose precision, but also comfort. I find flat keys uncomfortable to type on for long periods because I have to hit them “head on” in order not to make an error. Also, it is very easy to hit these keycaps on the corners which will cause your fingers to slip and mis-type. If you hit the corner of a keycap on a mechanical keyboard, you still have a good chance of registering the input. The longer “throw” of mechanical keyboards are also more comfortable for long typing sessions compared to the short engagement point of chicklet-style keyboards. For a long time, I thought the main attribute of an ergonomic keyboard is shape. After using the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic keyboard for 2-3 years and using my Leopold Tenkeyless for about 5 months, I realize that it’s not about the shape. The main reason mechanical keyboards are better is the key switches.

The third benefit is reduced strain. I realize this is closely related to comfort but I felt that this deserved its own section simply because of RSI(Repetitive Strain Injury). We use our computers for hours and some of us do not take RSI seriously. I take good care of my hands. And so should you. For most people, their hands are their livelihood. Hand health is very important if you are a musician, laborer, or athlete. One thing I’ve notice after spending a few months with my mechanical keyboard compared to keyboards of my past is finger pain. I use to get finger pain after prolonged typing on the rubber dome keys. They were all I knew so I didn’t question. It wasn’t until I was in the market for a better keyboard where I found out about mechanical key switches. Subsequently, it wasn’t until I was typing on them for hours until I realized my finger pain was mainly caused by the cheap rubber-dome keyboards. If you are on the computer for hours, or if your profession involves extensive amounts of typing, consider investing on a mechanical keyboard for this very reason. These key switches will reduce finger strain. Your hands will thank you.

The fourth benefit of using a mechanical keyboard is improved speed. A more precise, comfortable keyboard means improved typing speed. I was never a speed typist. Barely being able to type 25 WPM, after a few months of serious training, I can now type 60-70 WPM. Your mileage may vary but you will improve your speed. If not in burst typing, definitely in endurance typing. That’s typing long essays or reports. Wiki has the average typing speed rated at 33 WPM. If you are over this, you are doing very well.

The last and most important reason why you need a mechanical keyboard? They’re fun! That may sound silly to say but after getting one, I now enjoy typing. I like the sound of these Cherry MX browns. Some people like the blues. You can’t go wrong either way. They’re great to type on. Mechanical keyboards have their own unique personalities. From the simple Leopold Tenkeyless to the highly sought after HHKB Pro 2. Typing shouldn’t be a chore. Most people probably won’t be competing on typeracer for leisure, but mechanical keyboards will make you smile. It’s like buying a luxury car. Sure, you don’t NEED leather heated seat with power everything but if you can afford it, why not treat yourself? Especially a tool that you will spend years using. Once you punch the keys, you will see the light

Commonjs: Why You Shouldn’T Mix Es And Commonjs Modules

CommonJS: When working with JavaScript, it’s important to follow best practices to ensure smooth and efficient code. One such best practice is to avoid mixing ES module syntax and CommonJS syntax in your codebase. In this article, we’ll look at why you should avoid this practice and how to translate your code into a consistent use of the same syntax.

What is the difference?

First, let’s see what ES module syntax and CommonJS syntax are. ES module syntax is a standardized way of organizing code into small, reusable blocks that can be imported or exported into other modules.

Here is an example of how an ES module can be structured:

export const greeting = ‘Hello, World!’;

import { greeting } from ‘./greeting.js’;

In the example above, we define a module named chúng tôi which exports a constant named greeting. Then, in a file named, chúng tôi import the constant greetingfrom the module greeting.jsand write it to the console.

How about CommonJS?

On the other hand, CommonJS syntax is the traditional way of organizing code in chúng tôi allowing you to define modules and export them.

CommonJS modules have a simple structure consisting of an object that defines properties that can be exported and imported into other modules. Here is an example of how a CommonJS module might be structured:

module.exports = ‘Hello, World!’;

const greeting = require(‘./greeting.js’);

In the example above, we define a module named chúng tôi which exports a string value. Then, in a file named, chúng tôi query and import the module greetingand write its value to the console.

Why can’t I use them at the same time?

So why don’t you mix these two types of syntax? Here are some reasons:

Syntax conflicts: ES module syntax and CommonJS syntax use different syntax conventions. Using different conventions in the same module can lead to conflicts resulting in syntax and runtime errors.

Compatibility issues: Not all JavaScript frameworks support ES module syntax. Attempting to use them in a CommonJS environment or vice versa can lead to compatibility issues and bugs. For example, if you are using ES module syntax in a chúng tôi environment, you may encounter unexpected errors when using modules from NPM.

Maintenance Issues: Syntax confusion can make your code difficult to maintain or update, as different syntax conventions may require different tools, which can lead to additional complexity and confusion.

Consistency: You should always stick to one strategy and not mix two or more at the same time, this can create confusion for other developers who read your code.

To avoid these problems, it’s best to choose one syntax and stick with it consistently throughout your codebase. If your codebase uses CommonJS syntax, avoid introducing ES module syntax. If you are working with ES module syntax, avoid mixing in CommonJS modules whenever possible.

However, there may be times when you need to use code from modules written with a different syntax. In such cases, it’s best to use a transpiler like Babel or a packager like Webpack for compatibility. These tools can convert one syntax to another, allowing you to use the modules you need without conflicts.

In conclusion, avoiding mixing ES module syntax and CommonJS syntax is good practice for any JavaScript project. By sticking to one syntax convention and using the right tools, you can ensure that your codebase is organized, consistent, and easy to maintain.
