For a while now, Apple has relentlessly pushed us all into going wireless. It started with the removal of the audio jack on the latest iPhones, and it followed with two generations of AirPods, and the release of the AirPods Pro. These earbuds are everywhere now, and part of their appeal is the ease with which they can sync to iPhones—but also any other device with standard support for Bluetooth headphones.

It’s not perfect though. Due to the proprietary tech Apple has built into the buds, you’ll lose some functionality along the way, including the possibility of checking the battery life of your AirPods on the device you’re listening to, or having your music automatically pause when you take one of the buds out.

Still, the rest of the features such as tapping your AirPods or squeezing the stems of the AirPods Pro to pause playback, will work just the same.

Using AirPods with other Apple devices

If you’ve got a Mac, iPad, or Apple TV, and it’s signed into the same iCloud account as your iPhone, once you’ve paired your AirPods with your phone then the earbuds should automatically pair with your other devices as well. All you need to do is select them as an audio output.

On Apple TV boxes, you need to open up the Settings screen, then choose Remotes and Devices and Bluetooth. You should see your AirPods on the list. Select them to confirm the connection.

Using AirPods with Android, Windows and Chrome OS

On an Android phone or tablet go to Settings, Connected devices and tap Pair new device. You should be able to select your AirPods from the list as you would any other pair of bluetooth headphones. Tap Pair on the confirmation box that pops up to complete the connection.

Using AirPods with a PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch doesn’t support any Bluetooth headphones, but you can pair your AirPods through a dongle. Bionik

The process gets a little more complicated when it comes to gaming. Various hardware and software limitations mean that the PS4, the Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch don’t offer standard support for Bluetooth headphones. That means you can’t just hook up a pair of AirPods out of the box.

Workarounds exist, but like with most of them, you might not get the same sort of quality and stability that you’d expect. If you want to try connecting AirPods to a PS4, for example, you need a Bluetooth dongle like the $30 Avantree Leaf. The dongle plugs into your console, and the AirPods then connect to the dongle as would any other pair of Bluetooth headphones.

The Nintendo Switch doesn’t support any wireless headphones natively, but you can work around this with a dongle like the $35 Bionik BT or the $28 Gulikit Route Air. If you find other dongles you like better, just make sure that you’re buying one built for the Switch and with specific support for AirPods. The best way to do this is by checking the list of compatible devices, and any attached user reviews.

It’s even trickier on the Xbox One, where there isn’t really any way (dongle or otherwise) to get AirPods connected. The only potential fix—which may work for the PS4 and Switch as well—is pairing your AirPods with your TV. Support for this will vary from set to set though, so check the instructions for yours to see if Bluetooth headphones can be hooked up.

Using AirPods with a smart speaker

If you listen to a lot of music, podcasts, or audiobooks through a smart speaker (or watch a lot of videos on a smart display), then you can get this audio to play through a pair of AirPods rather than the built-in speaker.

With an Amazon Echo, open the Alexa app on your phone, then select Devices, Echo & Alexa, and the speaker to pair. Tap Bluetooth Devices and Pair a new device to connect up your AirPods as you would on your Apple devices.

If you’ve got an Amazon Echo Show then you can do the pairing straight from the smart display without having to use your phone. Swipe down from the top of the Echo Show screen, then tap Settings and Bluetooth to begin the pairing process. Once the AirPods are in pairing mode, pick them from the list.

For Google Home and Google Nest speakers, everything is done via the Google Home app on your phone. Tap the speaker or display you want your AirPods to connect to, then tap the cog icon (top right), and Default music speaker. Choose Pair Bluetooth speaker and make sure your AirPods are in pairing mode.

Can You Edit A Tweet? Yes, Kind Of

Everyone who has ever used Twitter has had to delete a post after asking “Can you edit a Tweet?” But those days are over. Almost.

Not being able to edit a Tweet might not seem like a big deal, but it is. If you’ve ever used Twitter, you know exactly what I mean.

And even if you haven’t ever used Twitter, let me remind you of this:

But now the days of typo-fueled media chaos are over with the addition of Twitter’s most anticipated feature: Edit Tweet! Well, kind of.

Bonus: Download the free 30-day plan to grow your Twitter following fast, a daily workbook that will help you establish a Twitter marketing routine and track your growth, so you can show your boss real results after one month.

Can you edit a Tweet?

Yes, as of October 3rd, 2023, Twitter Blue users in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are able to edit Tweets within 30 minutes of the time of posting. Tweets can only be edited up to a max of 5 times. US access is coming soon.

Twitter announced that testing the editing feature has gone well, so they’re moving forward with a more widely available rollout.

How to edit a Tweet

Step 1 – Select your Tweet and tap the 3 dots (…) to open the “More” menu.

Step 2 – Tap on the Edit Tweet option.

Step 3 – Make your edits and then tap Update.

That’s it! But there are some limits to keep in mind:

Tweets can only be edited with 30 minutes from the time of posting

Tweets can only be edited up to 5 times

Edit Tweet is limited to Twitter Blue subscribers in certain areas (for now)

Tweet Edit History

Just because you’ve edited a Tweet, doesn’t mean that your mistakes, typos, or bad jokes are gone forever.

Twitter will now label any Tweet that has been edited with an Edited icon that shows when the last edit was made.

— Twitter Blue (@TwitterBlue) October 3, 2023

On the more technical side, Twitter has confirmed that the Twitter API will make metadata from Tweets available so that developers can have access to editing and update history information.

— Twitter Dev (@TwitterDev) October 3, 2023

Twitter has stated that the Edit Tweet feature is designed to allow users to fix typos, include forgotten hashtags, and add missing media files.

The limits on edits and the displayable version history have been designed to alleviate concerns around transparency on a platform used by major news organizations and politicians to make major announcements.

Despite many loud voices begging for the edit feature, Twitter is being very conservative in its testing and rollout schedule, likely in response to the above concerns.

Assuming all goes well with the Twitter Blue users, expect the Edit Tweet feature to be released to all Twitter users in the near future.

The Best Weather Apps You Can Put On Your Phone

This story has been updated. It was originally published on August 11, 2023.

Among the many hats our smartphones wear, “meteorologist” is one that’s donned frequently. With the tap of a finger, our little pocket computers can make sure we’re never caught without an umbrella or sunscreen as the weather changes.

The best weather apps on Android and iOS will provide all manner of weather forecasts and meteorological data for you, but not all are created equal. Get one or more of these nine on your handset, and you’ll be able to stay on top of weather conditions in your immediate area or anywhere else in the world.

1. AccuWeather

AccuWeather can show you exactly when it’s going to rain in your area, making it one of the best weather apps available. John Kennedy

AccuWeather prides itself on the accuracy of its forecasts, and the global weather monitoring company’s free mobile app manages to pack a lot into each screen. It has everything from instant readings on what the weather’s doing now, to more detailed radar scans showing precipitation and clouds over a wider area.

And if you’re looking for up-to-the-minute information on when the skies may open up, it’s got MinuteCast: a circular, clock-like forecasting tool that shows whether or not you can expect precipitation in the next 60 minutes. It’s Dark Sky-esque and worth a look if you’re mourning the loss of that app.

Beyond sunshine and rain, AccuWeather can give details on wind speed, solar ultraviolet radiation (UV) levels, humidity, cloud cover, visibility, and more. It’s undoubtedly one of the best weather apps out there for the depth and precision of its data.

AccuWeather is free for Android and iOS.

2. Weather Underground

Weather Underground offers a bright and intuitive interface, easy access to weather forecasts wherever you need them, and enough other features to put it ahead of most of the weather apps available for your phone.

From telling you how long a current rain shower is going to last, to forecasting the wind speed in your area next week, Weather Underground is packed with useful data and features. These include a radar map, severe weather alerts, ski resort reports, and sunrise and sunset times.

One of the app’s best features is a “smart forecast” tool for running, hiking, or any other outdoor activity. To use it, describe the weather you’d prefer for your excursion (a sunny afternoon, perhaps), and Weather Underground will tell you when that forecast is expected next.

Weather Underground is free for Android and iOS.

3. Carrot Weather

If you like a little fun with your forecast, Carrot Weather might be the best weather app for you. David Nield

Carrot Weather might be best-suited for those who like their weather forecasts straightforward and honest. It focuses on the basics, but does them well, with attitude—mixing in sarcastic quips and film quotes alongside its weather predictions.

As for the actual meteorological data the app spits out, you can dig in by week, day, or hour, checking out everything from temperatures to wind speed. The graphic at the top of the app screen is particularly useful, showing an at-a-glance representation of the weather for the next few hours.

You can get alerts about upcoming weather patterns and switch between a variety of data sources too, including The Weather Channel and AccuWeather. Overall, Carrot Weather is a good weather app, but if you pick it over some of the others on this list, it’ll be for the entertaining, no-nonsense interface.

Carrot Weather is free for Android and $5 for iOS.

4. The Weather Channel

The Weather Channel might be the best app for weather news and forecasts available. David Nield

If you want the experience of watching TV weather on your phone, then the mobile apps from The Weather Channel are perfect. They’ll give you a quick summary of current and upcoming conditions, but you’ll also get a ton of short video forecasts, too.

However you like your weather prediction (either in static or video form), everything is elegantly laid out and easy to get around. So whether you want a quick update on what the weather’s going to do in the next 10 minutes or to take a deep dive into next week’s expected wind speeds and precipitation levels, The Weather Channel has you covered.

We also like the little flashcards that show key data (such as precipitation risk and sunset time) in a rotating carousel. For the sheer number of different ways you can get at weather information, The Weather Channel definitely earns a place on our list of best weather apps.

The Weather Channel is free for Android and iOS.

5. Flowx

If you love data visualization, Flowx is the best app for weather graphics you’ll find. David Nield

Flowx packs a bunch of data into visualizations that manage to be both mesmerizing and, actually, pretty useful. If you want your weather forecast to be as aesthetically pleasing as possible, it’s worth giving Flowx a go.

The app charts important information such as temperatures and precipitation levels in a variety of ways—pick the one you most like the look of—and also features the most detailed radar map we’ve seen so far. Sliding your finger across the screen while looking at the map lets you jump forward and backward in time, too.

It’s not quite as good at near-term forecasts and simple displays of information as some of the other apps we’ve mentioned, but Flowx excels at detailed looks at longer periods of time. There’s no iOS app at the time of writing, but the company is at least thinking about making one.

Flowx is free for Android.

6. Geometric Weather

Geometric Weather gives you information at a glance. Sandra Gutierrez G.

If you live in the Android ecosystem and value simplicity over vast amounts of data, take a look at Geometric Weather. It’ll give you the basics—the weather now and the hourly, daily, and weekly forecasts—in a pretty, stripped-down interface that won’t overwhelm you.

It can also use the background of your home and/or lock screen to display information at a glance. This feature consists of a clean, dynamic wallpaper with a geometric sun or cloud that changes depending on the forecast, and moves when you tilt your phone. There are no temperature indicators, no icons, no widget clutter—just an appealing illustration to indicate whether or not you’ll need an umbrella.

Geometric Weather is free for Android.

7. Weather on the Way

With Weather on the Way, you shouldn’t get caught off-guard (or without a raincoat) on your next trip. John Kennedy

Certain weather conditions can be dangerous for driving, but many of the best weather apps won’t help you avoid them. Weather on the Way will. When you’re going on a trip, simply plug in a starting location, a destination, and a departure time, and the Apple Maps-powered app will show your route and… ahem… the weather along the way. As you drive, it’ll show your location (if you’ve allowed the app to see where you are).

There’s also a timeline feature, which shows the weather at regular points along your path. Tap any of the forecasts and it’ll show you more detailed data such as humidity, wind speed, visibility, precipitation, and what temperature it feels like outside.

Weather on the Way is free for iOS.

8. RadarScope

RadarScope might be the best weather radar app thanks to its super-detailed maps, but you can’t get it for free. David Nield

If you’re after the most accurate weather app you can get, RadarScope could be the one for you. It has an almost bewildering array of high-resolution radar data for checking forecasts and keeping track of severe weather warnings.

The app describes itself as being “for weather enthusiasts and meteorologists” and has a price tag to match those lofty claims. What you see in this app is actual native radar data sourced from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s “next-generation radar” (NEXRAD) and Terminal Doppler Weather Radar (TDWR) locations in the United States. In other words, it’s the same data professional weather forecasters make use of.

RadarScope is particularly good for tracking and chasing storms across the country, so could be worth the outlay if you’re in a tornado or flash flood hotspot. The learning curve is steeper here than it is with the other apps in this list, but RadarScope rewards the investment.

RadarScope is $10 for Android and iOS.

6 Interesting Ways You Can Use Twitter Polls

You’ve likely answered a Twitter poll question at some point. Whether it’s to predict the outcome of that day’s football game or something silly like choosing a favorite dog breed, Twitter polls have become ingrained into the way we use the platform.

However, Twitter polls have continuously been underutilized by brands and businesses since they were introduced in 2023.

Here are six ways you can use Twitter polls to help drive more engagement.

1. Product Research & Promotion

The most effective way to use Twitter polls is for product research. If you’re considering building a new teddy bear, for example, you can poll your Twitter followers on what type of fur color it should have, or even its name. While there isn’t currently any evidence that polls have better visibility in the Twitter timeline than other types of posts, their design does make them stand out over regular tweets.

Besides getting customer feedback, you can also drive interest in your products by creating polls about what you offer.

EpiSpa London did a good job of this. They asked followers what product of theirs they should giveaway:

— epiSpa London (@epiSpaLondon) May 16, 2023

By listing names of products as choices in the polls, they are helping both their branding and marketing efforts.

2. Create Unique Industry Statistics

Getting real-time results from your audience also gives you the ability to generate thought leadership and actual industry statistics. If your industry has an active Twitter community, consider using Twitter polls to create exclusive industry statistics.

Search Engine Journal did this with their weekly #SEJSurveySays feature. Every week, Caitlin Rulien, the former social media manager, would ask a poll question to the audience.

Then, after the 7 days is up, she released a graphic with the results:

Once that was completed, a team member would write a recap post of the results, pulling in additional resources and any related elaboration on the results. This also brought the opportunity to link to other posts on SEJ that are relevant to the topic.

— Glass Digital (@GlassDigitalLTD) April 4, 2023

This got some coverage by other outlets and Twitter users, and the poll created two additional pieces of content – the graphic with the results and the recap post.

3. Repurpose Content Types

If you have a long-form piece of content, consider creating Twitter polls around the topic to drive continued awareness about the latest information you’re sharing.

For instance, if your toy company just released a new toy catalog, you could also your Twitter followers what their favorite toy was in the latest issue. Or, if you address something controversial in the industry in a white paper, you could ask for followers’ opinions on it.

4. Settle Debates For Fun or to Drive Engagement

Depending on your brand and what your products are, Twitter polls can also be a fun way to break the monotony of regular posts. BuzzFeed has a separate Twitter account for polls that has more than 119,000 followers.

Because their target audience has historically been millennials and younger, they often use emojis in polls, which may lead to more votes because of the eye-catching colorful images.

What do you need right now?

— polls (@polls) November 9, 2023

Create fun and engaging polls that speak to what your target audience is interested in, using the same language that fits them and your brand. It can lead to more engagement on your tweets by generating a conversation in the tweet that can help you create more brand sentiment and loyalty with your followers, all without trying to sell them something.

5. Be Present in Current Events

If you’re a news publisher or active in current events, creating Twitter polls about what’s going on in the world or your country can be a great way to get engagement. Be careful not to newsjack and ask tasteful questions that won’t offend anyone.

One good example is Martin Lewis, the founder of a London-based website that helps readers save money. He asked a question this month about the United Kingdom’s general election:

Today’s twitter poll: Are you going to vote in the General Election on Thursday?

— Martin Lewis (@MartinSLewis) June 6, 2023

With almost half a million followers, Martin’s polls frequently get thousands of replies and retweets, which helps him know his followers better and gets him more exposure to other potential new followers (through the retweets).

6. Promote Other Content

While you can’t attach images to polls, you can drop in links and hashtags, which is helpful in promoting other pieces of content. Since I couldn’t find a useful example of one, I created an example so you can see the format:

— Kelsey Jones (@wonderwall7) June 7, 2023

Using Twitter polls to promote your content has many benefits. As mentioned earlier, the unique format:

Drives interest and stands out in the timeline.

Gets users’ opinions on the content topics you’ve covered.

Spurs additional discussion or topic ideas based on the feedback you get.

Summary

Whether you use Twitter polls to help you with a dissertation or get customer feedback on a specific product feature, this tweet format can help you gain visibility and engagement. You can also search by industry hashtags and the hashtag or term “poll” or “Twitter poll” to see what others have done already.

Then consider testing different types of questions, answers, and lengths to see what works best with your audience.

For instance, you might find that votes drop off after three days, so leaving it open for seven days doesn’t do much good. Or, using the maximum number of four choices may be too overwhelming, so try narrowing it down to only two choices and see if you get a better result.

Testing can help you get the biggest impact for the Twitter polls you’re creating.

13 Best Soundboards For Discord You Can Use

Discord is one of the most popular voice chat apps for gamers out there. It’s a great way to connect with your squad as you play games or even hang out together with friends. You can create your own Discord servers, add bots to them, and a lot more. Plus, if you want, you can also have fun with some insane voice effects. However, you will need a soundboard app to modulate your voice. Recently, Discord added the native Soundboard functionality that can be used to send short audio clips. However, the feature is not available for everyone as of now. Therefore, you need a third-party soundboard app for Discord.

1. Resanance

Resanance is one of the most popular, completely free soundboard apps for Discord that you can use. The app brings a bunch of useful features, making it one of the best soundboards to get. You can set up hotkeys to play sound effects quickly. Plus, if you prefer a button deck instead of hotkeys, Resanance lets you do that as well. You can output audio from Resanance to multiple devices simultaneously, and it even lets you adjust volumes for each device individually.

File Support: .mp3, .ogg, .flac, and .wav

Platform: Windows

Download Resanance (Free)

2. Soundpad

If you are willing to spend some cash, you should check out Soundpad. This app isn’t just a Discord soundboard and also works as a sound recorder and editor, so you get more versatility out of it.

Similar to Resanance, Soundpad allows you to assign hotkeys. However, Soundpad also comes with some impressive features you will not find in Resanance. For one, the app supports normalization, which ensures all sounds play at the same volume. You also get support for mic toggling, recording sounds, and sound lists that let you create a list of sounds to play.

File Support: .aac, .flac, .m4a, .mp3, .ogg, .opus, .wav, .wma

Price: $4.99

Platform: Windows

Download Soundpad (€4.99, free trial available)

3. Clownfish Voice Changer

You get a ton of voice effects here, including Darth Vader (so you can say “I am your father” when you join a voice channel with your friends), alien, female, male, a baby voice, helium pitch, and more. Apart from that, Clownfish also comes with a built-in media player with a playlist and audio controls that you can use in your Discord rooms with your friends. There’s also a built-in text-to-speech function, as well as support for hotkeys.

File Support: All major file types supported

4. JN Soundboard

If you are looking for a highly feature-rich app, or are a fan of free and open-source software (FOSS), you should test-drive the JN Soundboard app. This app comes with a truckload of features, including the ability to set, edit, and remove custom hotkeys. Moreover, you can even restrict hotkeys to work when a certain program is in the foreground.

The app supports audio playback through any sound device, brings support for microphone loopback, and a lot more. You also get the ability to add a bunch of sounds to a single hotkey, and then JN Soundboard will play a random sound when you use the hotkey. JN Soundboard also brings support for an auto-pressing ‘push to talk’ key when playing a sound, exporting and importing hotkeys with XML files, and support for text-to-speech.

File Support: .mp3, .wav, .wma, .m4a, .ac3

5. Voicemod – Best Modern Discord Soundboard

Another great soundboard for Discord, Voicemod, is especially good for people who like to have a fresh, updated collection of sounds for their Discord servers. Not only does Voicemod come with many sound effects for you to play around with, but it also updates the sound effects gallery every month. So you will always have some new sounds to use on your Discord server.

Apart from that, Voicemod also lets you mix preset and custom soundboard options if that’s something you like. You also get support for hotkeys, as well as a handy integration with the Elgato Stream Deck, so if you are a streamer, Voicemod can automatically integrate with your Elgato devices. Voicemod is especially great for role-playing games because you can make your voice sound as you imagine your character to sound like.

File Support: .mp3, .wav

Platform: Windows, Mac (beta)

6. Voxal Voice Changer

Another voice changer app you can use to have fun with your friends on Discord, Voxal Voice Changer, is feature-packed to the brim. It comes with a pretty nice voice effects library, including the usual suspects – robot voice, girl voice, boy voice, and a lot more. The cool thing about Voxal is that you can apply these effects to existing files as well as in real-time to your voice via the mic. You can also create custom sound effects if you want more control.

Similar to Clownfish, Voxal Voice Changer also works on a system level, so you can use it with pretty much any app on your computer. What’s more, thanks to its low CPU usage, Voxal developers claim that you’ll see no drop in your frame rates while gaming, which is definitely a plus.

File Support: .mp3, .m4a, .wav, .wma, .aac, .flac, .ogg

Price: Free for non-commercial use

Platform: Windows, Mac

Download Voxal Voice Changer ($39.95; free for non-commercial use)

7. EXP Soundboard

Unlike some of the more feature-rich apps on this list, EXP Soundboard only supports playback through one of two devices — your speakers and a virtual audio cable. It also comes with a mic injector feature that allows for your mic to pass into the virtual audio cable.

File Support: .mp3, .wav

Price: Free

Platform: Windows

8. AV Voice Changer

AV Voice Changer is a considerably powerful app that you can use as a soundboard for Discord. It allows you to adjust and change pretty much any aspect or characteristic of voices. That makes it a powerful tool for voice editing and making your voice on Discord sound just the way you want.

Apart from a soundboard, AV Voice Changer also comes with a voice recorder, voice editor, voice morpher, and even a file morpher. So if you have been planning on doing voices for a project you are working on, then AV Voice Changer can come in handy for you.

Besides, AV Voice Changer is also quite expensive, so if you are looking for a good Discord soundboard and all the rest of these features aren’t really important to you, you may want to consider something else from this list.

File Support: Supports most audio formats

Platform: Windows

Download AV Voice Changer ($99.95, trial available)

9. Morphvox Pro – Paid But Powerful Discord Soundboard App

Another paid app, Morphvox Pro, is also much more expensive than most other apps (except AV Voice Changer) on this list. However, it does come with several useful features that make it a good Discord soundboard app.

Morphvox Pro comes with a pretty huge library of sound effects and free voices that you can use in Discord. Moreover, it comes with a feature where you can add background voices or noises while you talk. That can come in handy when you want to convince your friends that you are being called away by someone.

File Support: .wav, .mp3, .ogg, .wma

Price: $39.99

Platform: Windows, Mac

Download Morphvox Pro ($39.99, free trial available)

10. Podcast Soundboard

As the name suggests, this app isn’t designed to be a soundboard for Discord, but it definitely has all the features you need. The app supports MIDI devices, so if you like, you can use your MIDI keyboard with it. Plus, it comes with features such as loop and multi-shot, color-coordinated sound buttons, and more. There’s also a duck button, which is basically a configurable button that immediately lowers the volume.

File Support: .mp3, .wav, .m4a, .webm, .ogg, .flac

Price: $7.99

Platform: Windows, Mac

11. Jingle Palette

Jingle Palette also brings support for manual mixing and auto-mixing as well as autorepeat and touch play functionality. You can also adjust the volume and loop settings for every sound individually if you like.

File Support: .mp3, .mp2, .mp1, .mpa, .ogg, .wav

Price: Free

Download Jingle Palette (Free)

12. Mixere

Just as Jingle Palette was originally intended for radio stations, Mixere was a mixer for live performances in the past. However, it brings many features that make it perfectly usable as a Discord soundboard. The app supports unlimited tracks, and you can play multiple tracks at the same time.

However, Mixere isn’t a good fit for people looking for a simple soundboard app for Discord. The user interface is quite complex, and there is no support for things like hotkeys. I would only recommend Mixere for people who want powerful software they can use to, sort of, perform live or DJ on their Discord server.

File Support: Most audio formats are supported

Platform: Windows

Download Mixere (Free)

13. Official Soundboard of Discord

Recently, Discord included a soundboard that does limited soundboard functions from the application itself. It includes eight default sounds, including Quack, Airhorn, and more. Users also have the option of swapping this soundboard audio with their own. The audio of the soundboard has to be under 5 seconds to do that. On the other hand, in another instance, we could only upload audio of 0.8 seconds.

However, if you want to use additional sounds, you need to buy a Discord Nitro subscription. Buying the subscription allows users to add more sounds.

Price: Free (Paid for more sound additions)

Platform: Windows, macOS, Linux

Download Discord (Free)

How to Set Up Soundboards in Discord

Now that we have discussed the best soundboard apps for Discord, let’s also take a look at how you can set up soundboards in Discord. Here are all the steps you will need to follow to get your soundboard app up and running on your server.

First, you will need to install a virtual audio device, such as a VB cable (download, Mac, and Windows). Once you have done that, open the app, and move on to the next step.

Under Settings, go to “Voice and Video”.

In the pop-up window, enable the “Listen to this device” checkbox, and choose “Cable Input” under the dropdown menu for “Playback through this device”.

That’s it, your soundboard app for Discord is now ready to use. Have fun!

How To Remove Soundboard

While soundboards are a great addition and a fun way of interacting with your friends on Discord, chances are you want to remove them. And, the removal process, though cumbersome, is simple. Simply, go to the voice and video options of Discord, and from the audio input drop-down, select your mic. This will allow you to speak through your microphone, removing the cable output. Cable Output is the one where we emulated microphone usage to output the soundboard audios.

Use Soundboard Apps on Discord with Ease

Do You Need A Standing Desk? Yes, You Really Do.

As far as I can tell, the E5 is the best complete offering FlexiSpot has right now. It cost $339.99 using the coupon code CL80 (MSRP $419.99). If that price is too steep there are cheaper options available.

The cheapest single-motor option is $299.99 with discount code BACK50 ($349.99 MSRP). There’s also an even cheaper dual-motor version, coming out at $269.99 using coupon code NEW100 ($369.99 MSRP). All three include tabletops, so go frame-only if you already have a tabletop at home or want to source one elsewhere.

Let me walk you through setup and use. The FlexiSpot E5 frame came in a heavy box (76lbs/35kgs), but it was very easy to assemble. I’ve not built an Ikea standing desk but you get the analogy: you get a couple Allen keys and bolts in the box with clear step-by-step instructions to follow. All told I’d say I had the desk built in about a half-hour. I went for black, but there are gray and white frame options too.

My first impression of the FlexiSpot E5 was that it is very well built. It has a fair bit of heft to it and the powder-coated double steel tubing is very well machined. There are no issues with stability and I have zero doubt this thing will stand the test of time. The frame has a 5-year warranty and the motors, two or three depending on where you buy it. If you’re at all worried about the motors burning out, they can be bought separately via the manufacturer’s website.

The dual-motor system made short work of both of my setups. I started out with my laptop, spare monitor, and some wireless peripherals, maybe 15kgs in total. I later switched to my full desktop rig — around 40kgs including monitor arms, two screens, full-sized speakers, and more — and didn’t notice any difference. The E5 is rated for up to 275lbs (125kg) so regardless of how many monitors you’re packing, it will manage.

The dual motors travel at 1.5 inches per second (3.8cm/sec) at less than 50dB, powered by a 100-240V AC wall plug. It takes around 15 seconds to go from the E5’s lowest height of 24.4 inches (110cms) to its high point of 49.2 inches (180cms). There’s a slight speed-ramp as you start raising or lowering the desk. There’s also a “dampening” effect as you reach the upper or lower limits. The three-stage constrcution of the legs means the E5 is faster to raise or lower than two-stage frames.

Saving preset heights is a simple affair. Raise or lower the desk to the desired height, hit the “M” button and then the 1, 2, or 3 to save it under that number. You can then quickly adjust the desk’s height to your perfect settings with the touch of a button.

Setting a timer to alert you when you’ve been sitting for too long is a good idea. You can stop it when the buzzer goes off by adjusting the height of the desk. Ignore it and it’ll go off again in five minutes. Unlike activity reminders on a smartwatch, this is one alert you ought to pay attention to.

I felt less tired, less stiff, and even less grumpy at the end of the day.

It took me several years to finally get around to investing in a standing desk. Now that I have, it is the most important piece of office furniture I own. Thinking back on all those years I spent hunched over a static desk makes my back hurt just thinking about it. Don’t make the mistake I did friends: get yourself a standing desk sooner rather than later.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the FlexiSpot E5 but if it’s not quite your style we’ve rounded up a bunch of options to suit any price bracket in our standing desk guide.
